So true.

Whenever I try to explain to a newbie why so many GC feminists remain anonymous and start telling them about trans activist' threats I end up sounding like a crazy conspiracy theorist:

"Feminists are anonymous because trans activists tend to be violent-sounding, sexually-repressed young men who have watched too much porn, so they threaten to rape and kill middle-aged women, who they call TERFs, which is a really stupid slur that kind of just means feminist now, and these boys often are heterosexual and 90 + % still have penises and they have this sexual paraphilia called autogynephilia where they get turned on by thinking of themselves as women and humiliating women by doing things like exposing their penises in locker rooms and stealing used tampons to put into their anuses and pretend they have periods, but if you speak out against any of this you get rape and death threats and are ostracized and often lose your social group if not your job and..."

So, boy who made the Super Straight TikTok, THANK YOU.

I wasn't saying this to thank the kid. I was saying this to point out how one straight males voice outweighed years of all of ours.

I don't disagree with you, but I also think it's a numbers game. People outside the circle didn't even know what the trans community was doing or saying, much less that they were attacking the LGB. When they sent death threats to a child's mom because he said he doesn't want to date them, that is when the internet at large noticed what was going on, and how ridiculous and pervasive it really is. Now that it's out in the open, I think lesbian communities will be able to be much more discriminating again.

I understand. It's really frustrating how we have not been listened to for years.

I myself am thanking the TikTok boy; I have spent a few years now talking to everyone who wouldn't listen about gender ideology - I've blathered on to everyone from the A/C repairman to Nancy Pelosi's office, and felt as if I were swimming against a 100 foot wave about to push me to the bottom of the ocean.

This kid gets on TikTok, is as polite and non-"transphobic" as he can be given his message, doesn't bother with the details of the Equality Act, or how the puberty blocker Lupron is used to castrate sex offenders, or how "transmen" can need hysterectomies, etc., and ad nauseam, and yet it's like the scales fell from the world's eyes. So kudos to him, and a heartfelt, "Thank you!"

I'm just glad it happened.

Never forget that nothing we said was ever valid until a straight male made a TikTok and a meme about it.

This seems like an overgeneralized interpretation that will make you needlessly upset.

Straight males have had jokes about this ("traps are gay") and it's never picked up steam. (That's a good thing, it's homophobic and crass.) Not only that, straight men such as Shapiro and Peterson have been defending biological sex for years now and it wasn't treated as valid just because they said it. They are dismissed because they are straight white men far more often.

The tag getting a lot of support not because of him, but because the reactionary meltdown Streisanded it into the stratosphere. For those who were quietly sick of gender identity nonsense, it gave them a way to throw shots back using the same language against the TRAs. It's insanely clever, and hilarious.

And the backlash isn't any different than what happened to other GC voices - it's not like the TRAs bowed down to him because he's a straight male. I find it extremely likely he will lose friends, partners, or jobs because of this. His face is out there, there WILL be vindictive TRAs trying to run his life for a long time. SuperStraight is being deplatformed on reddit right now.

I am curious how our newfound "allies" will react to this. This is a group of people who are honestly not used to being told no. It will be interesting.

This is how you lose allies. Many people who agree with us are sick of being judged and belittled when they just want to do the right thing. If you can't manage to put away your biases because it's right to treat people with openness and compassion before judgment, then do it because it will lead to success of your cause.

I'll add Joe Rogan too since he has a significantly higher reach than the other guys you mentioned. All his podcasts about trans issues (like the ones with Debra Soh and Abigail Shrier) were censored off Spotify when he first joined. He had to work hard to get them back up. He was also called a transphobe while Spotify's staff threatened to walk out for giving him a platform.

[–]BEB 10 insightful - 2 fun10 insightful - 1 fun11 insightful - 2 fun -  (2 children)

I was randomly talking to a customer service rep on the phone and he brought up Joe Rogan's interview with Abigail Shrier and how it made him terrified for his little girl. (I'm a chatty person IRL and often have long conversations with complete strangers).

So yeah, Joe Rogan is on average an annoying, sometimes blindingly stupid meathead, but he took on this tough topic when very few others would and took the heat for it without backing down that much.

[–][deleted] 4 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

Sometimes you need a stupid meathead to take on these issues because they'll stubbornly stand their ground and shrug off people trying to bully them into silence. Being a belligerent asshole has its uses.

[–]BEB 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Totally agree. And most of Rogan's male-meathead audience would probably never listen to a feminist unless Head Meathead endorsed her.

I actually like when Rogan has science types on because he mainly stays out of their way beyond asking the same type of basic, meathead questions I would have asked them.

[–][deleted] 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

That's true, I don't care about or follow him but I did remember he covered MMA TIM athlete fallon fox breaking an opponent's skull. A cursory search indicates comments from him as early as 2014. It also shows in 2021 people are still writing articles going after him for it.

[–]lefterfield 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

His face is out there, there WILL be vindictive TRAs trying to run his life for a long time.

This is happening, too. He's gotten death threats and his mother's business is being attacked with negative reviews.

[–]BEB 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

And he's just a kid, who was just speaking from his heart (or rather, penis ;-)

If nothing else, this attack on a kid reveals shows how psycho the trans demands activists are, something which the Terven have been complaining about for years to no avail.

[–]lefterfield 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Yeah :(

[–]antares 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

IMO: Complaints are only effective if authority and power is willing to accept it. Otherwise, a complaint is easy to dismiss. Humor, however, appeals to the public.

[–]BEB 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I'm all for humor as an effective means to change minds.

[–]anxietyaccount8 24 insightful - 1 fun24 insightful - 0 fun25 insightful - 1 fun -  (5 children)

I think that may be a bit cynical, maybe the reason it appealed to so many people is because it's seen as funny and a meme. Unlike our movement...

But you know what, you're right, I would have never expected the ENTIRE internet to be talking about it. It's weird that this happened.

[–]WildApples 21 insightful - 2 fun21 insightful - 1 fun22 insightful - 2 fun -  (2 children)

It feels to me like a dam bursting, like many people have been penting up frustration with woke gender stuff for a while and have been waiting for a safe outlet to express it.

[–]Matroskin 9 insightful - 2 fun9 insightful - 1 fun10 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

Definitely this. Laughter has always been the way to criticize those you're not allowed to criticize.

[–]censorshipment 8 insightful - 7 fun8 insightful - 6 fun9 insightful - 7 fun -  (0 children)

I was banned for a day for simply using the 🤣 emoji on TwoX. A male virgin was asking about sex there even though there's a sex subreddit. Men-loving women were upset and telling me to be nice. Smh I hate hypersensitivity.

[–]lefterfield 10 insightful - 1 fun10 insightful - 0 fun11 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Yeah, that's likely part of it. It could be timing, too, that the equality act is being talked about more and conservatives are talking about this stuff more.

[–]BEB 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I think all the sports bills in state legislatures and also Rand Paul taking on Ben-Franklin-In-A-Wig Rachel Levine about puberty blockers have also helped raise awareness. I have actually seen puberty blocker comments on non-GC and non-concerned parents accounts.

[–]slushpilot 17 insightful - 2 fun17 insightful - 1 fun18 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

The key difference between GC and "superstraight" and why it suddenly works is that instead of trying to push back against trans nonsense, the supers are holding up a mirror and simply making the same claims ("we are valid" / "don't be phobic") in reverse as though it's a sexual minority to be straight.

So, there is something to it.

[–]Rationalmind 8 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 0 fun9 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Yep. Taste of own medicine.

[–]censorshipment 11 insightful - 6 fun11 insightful - 5 fun12 insightful - 6 fun -  (0 children)

I think the originator of SuperStraight being a young "cute" Asian-American guy helped. "Transphobes" are painted as older white conservatives, and he shatters that image.

[–]just_lesbian_things 12 insightful - 1 fun12 insightful - 0 fun13 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

I'm just along for a laugh. It's no different than Graham Linehan dressing up like a male trans person or that time somebody claimed to be a trans woman trapped in a cis woman's body. It's just a joke to me, and of all the ones being made about this situation, it probably wouldn't even make my top 5. You're giving it too much credit.

[–][deleted] 6 insightful - 5 fun6 insightful - 4 fun7 insightful - 5 fun -  (0 children)

Damn, what are your top 5 then? Because this one had me rolling.

[–]BEB 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I think that the Super Straight movement is much bigger than that: I saw comments on Twitter in other languages, two of which I can kind of read and they were into it. I think the Super Straight movement hit a nerve globally.

r/ SuperStraight has 28 K subscribers last time I checked, in a matter of a week or so.

I suggest that to keep it going we keep the terminology, especially Super LGB, because the TQ+ Trojaned Horsed the LGB and so it's important that people know that there are LGB who reject T supremacy.

[–]purrfect 11 insightful - 1 fun11 insightful - 0 fun12 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

I couldn't disagree more. Everything we've been saying has been valid from the beginning. The fact that more and more people are pushing back against QT is proof of that and you can include the SuperStraight meme in that success. There needs to be more push back and, lets face it, "straight males" help in reaching critical mass. Whatever, whoever helps is welcome. The reason it works, because the foundations were already laid by the women working on this for years.

[–]TeaAndCigarettes[S] 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

I just spent a few hours in the discord server and after doing so I certainly feel like this movement, as a whole, really does not give a shit about radical feminists but they will happily use our talking points. The moderators also tagged me in posts to remind me that "trans women are women."

The debate jaunted around pedophilia and the overlap between transwomen and those that engage in that behavior which most tended to see the trend of. Myself and a few other radical feminists tried to bring up and discuss the inevitable conclusion of "Why are biological men primarily child predators?" and "Why are men the primary perpetrators of violent crime?" while providing facts and stats about this. It devolved quickly into a mess of "Not all men" and "Women are predators too!" while deny any fact presented and not questioning or even thinking about why the points we brought up are true.

In conclusion, this is a fun experience and a meme for men. They do not care about the people who are actually harmed by TRAs.

[–]Rationalmind 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Sounds like they took personal offense.

[–]BEB 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I think (and I'm talking about the US here) it's important to remember that many people who latched onto Super Straight are probably young to young-ish so have been indoctrinated into lib feminism/ Queer Theory from childhood, so to them even stating their sexual boundries is a bit taboo.

Then the older people announcing their Super Straightness have been brow-beaten into submission by the nonstop media, corporate and governmental barrage that Trans Women Are Women for the last ten years, and so know not to say the opposite out loud even if they think it's ridiculous.

All to say that, IMO, many people are just taking their baby steps into gender criticism and so what we who are GC can do to help them take bigger steps is maybe not hit them over the head with all we know until they're ready to hear it.

The only way to fight back effectively is to become an activist investor with your 401k, and to do so en masse.

Don't forget that given enough pressure, a large group can reclaim the voting rights of the stocks held in those funds and bring the corporate boards entertaining this madness to heel.

[–]YoutiaoLover 9 insightful - 1 fun9 insightful - 0 fun10 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

We cannot ignore that nothing we said ever mattered until straight males finally said it.

Sad truth. Not trying to participate in Oppression Olympic, but our oppression is so real that the breakthrough can only start after a guy opened his mouth.

[–]Archie 6 insightful - 2 fun6 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

On the one hand it is nice that it gets more people to talk about the issue, but on the other hand I hope the term never catches up.

Changing the meaning of words such as "woman", "gay", "lesbian" and "straight" has always been the goal of TRAs. Creating a new terms like "superstraight" which actually has the same meaning than "straight" should right now is playing into their game. It is acknowledging that the meaning of "straight" changed, and we absolutely do not want that.

"Straight" means you're attracted to the opposite sex. A man attracted to men in dresses is gay or bi. We don't need new words and doing so will only lead to losing the communication battle.

[–]BEB 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I think that this is the liberation moment, when many people who have felt constrained for a long time are realizing they are not alone.

I think that the pendulum needs to swing this far in order to eventually get back to a world where we can regain the definition of "straight" as simply "attracted to the opposite biological sex" without that being called bigotry.

[–]FediNetizen 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

EDIT: SuperStraight has been locked and can likely expect a ban soon.

They only went private briefly. I believe the mod team stated that since the mods are all in similar time zones they decided to lock it while the mods were asleep to avoid brigading. Though I do still worry that reddit will try to find an excuse to ban them.

Edit: Banned as of a couple of hours ago. Really hoping Reddit will finally have its Digg moment.

[–]WildApples 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

And it has now been banned. Good run, though.

[–]Evescum 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

They are not an ally, and they will not listen. I was just banned for saying men aren't women though.

It's all a joke where I'm supposed be fine just being a super woman bc they care more about a man's right to infringe on my identity than my right to exist free and autonomous.
