I've actually interacted with Trump twice, with one degree of separation (he spoke or wrote to me, using his own words, through a person very close to him). Both times well before he became president.

Back in the 80s and 90s, Trump was known as a buffoon, a con artist, nightclub habitue, associate of uber-creep Roy Cohn, narcissist, loud-mouth, spoiled rich kid, nouveau riche-ish loser. Trump was very entertaining, very ruthless and he was cunning. Oh yeah, he was tied to the mob.

He never changed. Trump is for Trump. He has no concern for the truth, no concern for the rule of law, no concern for the Constitution/ Bill of Rights, no concern for the welfare of the United States or its citizens. If he could be a dictator, he would.

That is what scared me about Trump. That and that he is really a stupid, vain, easily-manipulated-by-flattery, man. His stupidity alone should have disqualified him to be president, but then add the dictator part and ummmm no.

Whatever I think about other presidents, and I can't think of one I was a fan of (although I do think that Jimmy Carter, who I interacted with as well, was a decent man at heart) I think that they had a basic love of country under all their corruption. I think Trump did too, like the Grinch. Patriotism was probably beaten into him at military school, but that doesn't mean Trump wouldn't destroy the US to benefit himself.

The 80s and 90s were 3-4 decades ago. With all due respect, I will ignore that paragraph because I was wondering more about what he did during his presidency that scared you today. I was looking for example of policies that maybe turned you off from him.

I agree he is a bit of a narcissist. He definitely has some ugly traits like making fun of the handicap and cursing out American citizens. I wouldn't put him in the class of evil. For a long time I hated the dude, but it was really based on what the media showed. What made me ooen to the idea that maybe Trump isn't THAT bad, is this sub. When this sub talked about the Biden/Harris Equality Act, I knew I couldn't vote Democrat ever again. So I was left with Trump as a choice which forced me to really question the media. Trump actually did a lot of great things that were never talked about. None of it greatly benefited the poor, but I never saw any president do anything that benefited the poor. Even when Democrats give money away it never really lifts anyone out of poverty. I also think Trump exposed a lot of corruption from both Democrats and Republicans.

Tl;dr He wasn't perfect, but he wasn't Adolf Hitler and I wished the media didn't focus on just the negative stuff. They are handling Biden with kid gloves. They don't criticize anything he does.

I agree that the Left media is giving Biden a pass. And I didn't vote for the Democrats because of the Equality Act and similar legislation.

But I visited elderly relatives a lot during the Trump presidency and so was force fed FOX news and other right-wing media. They gave Trump a tongue bath every second of every day.

And in terms of Trump, and in terms of his presidency, and in terms of his corruption, I would have to spend a few hours to list all the things that enraged and frightened me and why.

I have traveled a lot for an American, and I had a job that involved analysis of global events and issues; Trump reminded me forcibly of a tinpot dictator in a banana republic. Except most tinpot dictators are smarter than the Tubby Grifter.

And almost anything good that happened during Trump's administration happened despite him, not because of him.

Trump is, beyond anything else, an almost complete idiot and I am very sorry that my first hand-ish knowledge of his stupidity doesn't convince others.

On the day after Trump was elected, I thought hard about buying some young citrus trees because I thought, "Why bother, Trump is going to kill us all before these bear fruit." That's how scared I was.

And Trump did do his best to enrage Iran enough to start a war, and wanted to bomb Iran, so it's just by the grace of an election that we avoided WW III. For now. The Democrats are a bunch of war-mongers too, so...

Wow! Well I won't dismiss your experience. It's interesting you brought up Iran. There is an Iranian lady I know who fears the Democrats right now. She said what is happening in America reminds her of back home and she is afraid the country will turn to the place she escaped. Pitbull even said something similar - that the country is heading the way of Cuba.

As for Trump, nothing he did had a negative effect on my life. That is why I am genuinely curious how other people's lives have been impacted. I paid less taxes than I did with Obama. But with Biden, everything he is doing has a negative effect on my life. He is erasing womanhood, opening borders to illegals, increasing taxes, driving socialism, removing funding in an industry I work in, enabling travel restrictions, etc. I value my womanhood, religious freedom, and my paycheck. So Biden is scarier for me.

I too am frightened by the actions of the Democrats since they took office. If scares me that one of Biden's first executive orders could destroy women's sports and the safety of many women.

I am enraged that the Democrats are almost immediately reintroducing the women-hating Equality Act. They must really want to lose in 2022.

And I hate the Democrats and other Progressives (as well as, apparently, university students) seeming attack on free speech.

But this is a representative republic and we have the option to vote the Democrats out, and the Democrats will respect being voted out.

Trump was trying to change the US into Trumplandia, and for that alone he should have been ousted, although there were a shit ton of other corruptions he needed to get the boot for...
