That must have cost a lot of money!

I like the fact he keeps getting away with this and, hopefully, pissing TRAs and some trans people off.

The tweeter, Chris Elston, who seems to be behind this billboard, has pissed off some GC feminists, but he gets things done. He reminds me a bit of ACT UP, the gay group that would pull outrageous stunts to bring attention to the AIDs pandemic.

And that's what we need now, IMO - we need to do very visual, in-your-face things to wake people up. Especially given that most people are actually on our side, but are only just starting to wake up.

2nd Wave feminists also got things done; we desperately need more women now to be like them and this guy.

I know the guy (as in, I know he is responsible for the I Heart JK Rowling somewhere in Canada and in the US), I remember a few GCs on Twitter were quite vocal about Elston and some were accusing him of doing unsavory shit to some women.

I don't recall the details, though.

He does get shit done. I hope he continues pissing TRAs for as long as he can.

He was going off on weird rants and banning any women who claimed to be "feminists". It was really weird. This was back in October, I think.

I hate to say it, but in my experiences in activism, some of the most fervent, and sometimes the most effective in terms of publicity, are a bit "off."

The thought occurred to me he was doing this on purpose in order to obtain donations from someone who had a problem with the "f" in "t e r f".

I don't know anything about him beyond his publicity stunts, and then rumblings that GC women were mad at him. He does have at least one female child so maybe that's his primary motivation - not feminism per se, but just keeping his child safe and giving her the same advantages males receive?

I imagine some of the men who are fighting gender ideology might find any association with "feminism" or self-proclaimed feminists as problematic in terms of their strategy. People like Chris might not get the monetary donations from anti-gender-ideology techie dude bros and other rich men if they see some kind of "feminism" behind the resistance. Some people will literally shut their ears off if they smell a whiff of "feminism" when it comes to arguing against gender extremism, which might be part of the reason people aren't listening to arguments against it in general. If that was the reason he was culling his twitter feed, I wish he had done it in a different way.

I have no idea what's up with Chris, because I wasn't paying attention - I just see his tweets if someone links to them. He might be the go-it-alone, my-way-or-the-highway type.

My point is that ACT UP was very successful by pulling publicity stunts, and Chris is doing just that, so 1) good and 2) as many of us who can, need to also start making NOISE.

Everyone - Call a politician. Put up a yard sign. Talk to your book, gardening, gaming club. DO SOMETHING.

Of course you get the male (duh) white-liberal white-knight moron jumping in the replies with "Twansphobia is gross."

Like no dumbass, transgenderism is gross.

I know so many otherwise liberal, educated men, mostly white, who are just horrified when I, a woman, tell them that I don't want men in my bathrooms.

"But, but, but," they stammer, "You're not...you're not... TRANSPHOBIC?!?!?" As if by demanding spaces where women can undress in privacy were akin to demanding that men in dresses should be stripped and then marched naked to the guillotine.

In response, I let them have it - facts, figures and basic common sense - I let my outrage fly.

I've had a very old male friend, liberal-cause activist, call me a "bigot" - haven't spoken to him since. But most of my male friends totally get it once I explain why I'm "transphobic." Because core-GC beliefs make sense to the majority of people. And so we need to speak out and explain them to all and sundry.

This billboard man appears to be on his own mission, alienating a lot of women as he goes, but he's doing something - we ALL need to be doing something. Women around the world are being erased and, while this man is controversial, he's out there fighting instead of inside typing.

Yep. I get castigated among gay social circles as a "Drop the T" gay.

"omg their struggle is our struggle" - no it is fucking not.

I find that its very easy for non-TIM men, totally ignorant that they face precisely zero costs in the issue vs women, to simply go-along with the trans agenda like mindless virtuous assholes, and then of course be the most outspoken in ensuring its implementation.

Have you ever been to Datalounge.com? It's a site primarily for gay men, many of whom are well-educated, some of whom are funny. It's an entertaining site because posters discuss everything from soap operas to true crime to politics.

For decades now, a lot of Datalounge posters have been vehement about how transgenders are not part of gay rights - and some were around for AIDs and the early gay rights movement. You should check it out.

I work with 2 young gay men-- both are really smart and reasonably attractive. One of them walks around with a JKR themed flask, LOL. I think these guys are literally having issues dating as of late because so many young people are adopting the "queer" label, give them fake signs of interest, then flake out on having actually dating. Can't really imagine how difficult it must be to be gay or lesbian and young, since it's as if so many people are "posing" when they're really just straight. What's also sad is that some of the gay and lesbian people who encounter this phenomenon are probably just blaming themselves for their lack of luck.

Gay men are pretty much the only people politicians are going to take seriously, so once the pressure to sleep w TiFs or be called bigots hits gay men, things might get better.

Even lesbians, although part of the LGBTQI2A++, are WOMEN at the end of the day, so politicians don't give a shit about their rights.

YUP, love the good old DL. Have followed the ongoing "The Gays and Tennis" thread for years now haha

For decades now, a lot of Datalounge posters have been vehement about how transgenders are not part of gay rights - and some were around for AIDs and the early gay rights movement.

There are always the same 1-2 TRAs/white-knight gay handmaidmen (likely 1 with multiple sock accounts) screaming in opposition to that general Drop-The-T consensus on there, just like on Reddit, et al.

I swear, given how I've seen how these types of collectivist assholes operate, that they're literally coming up with gameplans/scheduled assignments of forums to police ("for the greaTer good"). Certainly helps that the most pious of the TRA contingent is also the most unemployable, lending plenty of free time to such activities.

There are a few trans fans on Datalounge. One is an older gay man named Charlie, who used to be a gay activist and who buys that trans demands are an extension of civil rights for gays (obviously Charlie hasn't thought too hard on this).

Another is a guy named Frank, who I think lives in the Midwest. He's annoying, but not vehement.

There's another who goes by "Ooze" who is probably 19 and attending Oberlin. He is truly annoying and pops up on many political threads spouting The Handbook of Social Justice talking points.

The last is probably the one you're referring too - the one who makes up about half the posts on every trans thread, screaming that Datalounge is a gay male space (although he loves the trans, so go figure), that rad fems are gay male haters, that trans demands are the same demands made by gay males during their own struggles so gays need to support trans.

I'm pretty sure he's the same guy who polices the political thread and will not allow anything that isn't far, far Left to be posted without calling the other poster "Boris" or a "concern troll." He uses the quote function a lot and used to also use "dear" and "cupcake" and "LOL" a lot in his posts, but since people got wise he's switched tactics.

He does work. Or did. He has some kind of horrible, possibly lower-level office job.

I think now he's pretending to be the "British rad fem who hates gay men" who has suddenly popped up on trans threads making (valid) gender critical talking points but spewing hatred against gay men. It would be just like the trans troll to pretend to be a gay-hating rad fem in order to turn Datalounge against gender critical thought.

I don't know what his damage is, but I'm guessing maybe he either is attracted to transgenders, or perhaps wants to be one but it's buried deep.

Anyway, I hope that you post some of the absolute bullshit the gender lobby is getting up to on Datalounge, because it is widely read and so we would be able to reach many more people than here.
