I hope in our lifetimes we get to the point where we can look back at this era of history and realize we played fast and loose with people's mental health. Lobbing off perfectly healthy body parts of people who have not been treated for deeper psychological disorders all on the altar of "inclusivity."

I think a problem with that would be, that these people needed to be willing to get psychological help. And I don't think they are.

Any person working in health care would be reportet for refusing to treat and validate their identity if they dared to suggest therapy. :( Affirm, Affirm, Affirm is the mantra.

For some yes but for most the delusion can only last so long before it comes crashing down. I suspect in about a decade a lot of those crying about how unfair it is having to wait will be crying about how we 'let them' make the wrong choice.

Sometimes I wonder if this is the modern version of what "psychiatric treatment" was a decade or so ago. People 10-20 years ago would drag their adolescent kids to the shrinks, drug them up beyond recognition, because they didn't like how they behaved. Unhappy people would also seek psychiatric meds hoping they would cure their emotional problems. Now "transitioning" has replaced what used to be psychiatric treatment.
