When I recently asked my otherwise lovely lesbian friend who is openly about third wave feminism why she would want to perpetrate gender stereotypes if she is so against being associated with ones for women and she got silent for a noticeable amount of time and then said “because they’re important to trans people and their identities.” Yikes.

wow we went from women can be anything to let's play up the stereotypes that oppressed us to make men feel better and fit in with what they think we are. ok I never thought this shit would happen in my lifetime.

Sadly she considers herself non-binary/genderqueer and this followed a rant about how she hates being reminded that she’s female and to hear her bag referred to as a “purse.” She does have many good qualities. And I should clarify for any bystanders that I’m also a lesbian (i.e. a female homosexual) and I’m not telling this story to paint lesbians in any particular way. In my experience, lesbian reactions to gender ideology are very varied.

IF she considers herself to be nonbinary, then she also cannot be a lesbian if she's not a woman, she's merely a trendy (likely) millennial.
