And I get extremely lonely, to the point all I want to is scream in frustration and anger. But whenever I talk to other people, and am surrounded by them, the attention does not do anything, it doesn't alleviate the pain.

Your comment reminded me of these lines from Roxy Music's 1979 hit "Dance Away" by Bryan Ferry:

Loneliness is a crowded room

Full of open hearts turned to stone

All together all alone

Goodness. Those lyrics are so brilliant, they hit me so close to home and I relate so much to them 😭 I searched for dance away and am listening to it right now, those lines from years ago have so much truth in them and though I'm so late to the fantastic song I'm so glad you recommended it to me. Couldn't ask for a better gift this year my friend 😘 💓

Still listening to it, it's been a couple times now~: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4nT1-eE2E0M

So glad you like the song! The video you linked to isn't available in my country (the US), so I'm posting a couple more of "Dance Away" from 1979: https://youtu.be/J04oJbu2EkA https://youtu.be/NavzcV_gRiE

BTW, when not writing about feminism, I write Roxy Music and Bryan Ferry song parodies and humor pieces under the pen name Proxy Music. My parody of "Dance Away," written to commemorate the COVID-19 lockdowns and restrictions, is called "Stand Away."

Prior to COVID, a main activity of my retirement years was traveling whenever I could both in North America and overseas to see Ferry in concert. At 75, his voice has faded, but he's got a great band and still puts on an amazing show. Check out his sax player Jorja Chalmers at the end of this: https://youtu.be/2VyHedf6BlY
