what a joke. Tim's in tech are gods... only real women get oppressed

True fact. I worked with a TiM in a tech job once, and he was seen by management as a trump card in case someone accused them of being not diverse enough.

Oh, then women can just stop 'identifying' as women then, and all the oppression will stop? No need to ensure protections for women when being one is a choice...

I've seen two versions of that commercial, one with that line and one without where the emphasis is solely on Africian-Americans.

As Lavalanche17 points out, people who "Identify" as women rule in tech. People born into it on the other hand do not. The commercial is actual an advance in the war on women in that it is not "identify as women" but as female so amazon is helping them take that word away now.

BTW, are there any sources on the representation of trans persons in tech? This is something I've heard about frequently in various forums but can't find concrete proof of.

Amazing how the really important data, like this, or proving male violence (% of rapes, murders, assaults by XYs), is not being collected or made easily accessible...

Oh, the male violence part is not very hard to prove... Police stats show that >95% of sexual assaults and rapes are done by males. There are not enough trans people to skew that number, whatever sex is used to register their actions.

Please, understand, I am coming from a place of being intensely frustrated.

Where are the male violence statistics?. I've been spending time daily over the last week to find a citation clearly stating those figures. I've found articles using those figures, yet no footnotes, no data analysis given. "Perpetrators" is the obscuring terminology; since >90% of rapists are men, now people are being "inclusive" by not using the word men? Appearance is that studies since 2011 focus on "But women assault and rape, too" "men victimized by women". Most articles speak of victims. Searched for -percentage of male perpetrators of rape- and variations. I've been through dozens of pages of search results. Racial break downs are easy to find. Victim demographics are easy to find. Perpetrators by sex with cited data? Have you a cited reference? I've encountered a UK data site that claims to sort perps by "gender", but I'm in US, and not eager run down what may be a foreign gov data rabbit hole, especially on mobile device.

You know I would probably say they are over-represented compared to population (specifically obviously the males)

Well how fortunate that we can identify as something else then.

Imagine saying you "identify as black" or "identity as human". You'd be laughed at.

Actually, in the US, the NASDAQ has filed a proposal with the Securities and Exchange Commission to require "self ID" minority's representation on company's boards. This includes racial self-ID.
