gender has not been proven. Just think about what would have to be proven: that there is some innate sense about some specific aspect of our selves internally and that this innate sense is somehow expressed in a way that mimics from a rang of male to female with perhaps some thing or things in between those two and this sense is separate from sex. How? How can such a thing be? How can a sense of "gender" exist innately separate from sex but mimicking it? We can have any number of senses about ourselves, but the are the result of our literal senses bringing us information from our surroundings. We can have a sense of comfort, a sense that we are individuals, a sense of feeling cold or afraid, but what can a sense of gender be if it is separate from a sense of knowing what our genitals are? Do you have an innate sense of being American or descended from Barbary Pirates? No. There is no innate sense of anything that isn't gathered first by our senses and it is not innate but adaptable to our circumstances.

What does exist is mental illness, and indulging the mentally ill in the delusion that there is some innate sense they have that contradicts their sex so that they are male bodied but somehow in some other way they are a woman or they are somehow not a person that is male bodied, that's just ridiculous. Male and female, man and women: they are body types and nothing more.
