“If you can't control your own emotions, you're forced to control other people's behaviour.”

Brilliant.

Why do unfunny idiots decide going after a comedian is a good idea. Comedians live for the smackdown, you're just going to get your ass handed to you.

Because plenty of them have folded under pressure and his other tweets are "orange man bad," which typically signals someone who will bow to leftist agendas.

exactly LOL this is a walk in the park for them

Yes, my understanding is superficial. One thing: When a woman who was once a man is competing against women who have always been women, I think she has an advantage, because she inherited a man's body, which is usually bigger and stronger than a woman's. Does that prove phobia?

Why saying this is "contoversial" in first place? If men don't have an athletic advantage over women, then why sports were segregated by sex?

I don' t have Twitter, but indeed. He could have shut up about it or throw some stupid TWAW idiocy to just be left alone, and instead he is doing this.

The way he is trolling them is glorious: I don' t even care about why he' s doing it, if to defend women or just for the pure pleasure of trolling those morons or maybe just because he has at least two functioning brain cells and wants to point out how incoherent and idiotic the entire house of cards is (I am betting on this, and I am 100% happy about it). It' s about time someone told them to go fuck themselves.

It's obvious that the era of women being any sort of protected class is over. Bulldozed over.

Addams, I think it's worse than that. Girls & women were never a "protected class" - all we got for a very short while was recognition that we were/are a distinct class of people who no longer should be deprived of civil/human rights.

For a very brief period in human history "sex" was a protected characteristic in the anti-discrimination laws of a small number of Western "democracies." But women have never been a protected class in any country on earth at any time in history.

John Cleese gives zero fucks, and it is awesome to behold.

The comments section is a litany of misinformation.

As we now know, hrt makes very little difference.

MY favourite is the one that says all TW have puberty blockers so never have male puberty.

Which gives an idea of how little people understand about how gender dysphoria is treated in the real world.

[–]GConly 5 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 2 fun -  (2 children)

95% plus of them have gone through male puberty.

[–]Shesstealthy 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Exactly. And I think that's right. We're playing dangerous games when we attempt to rewire a kid's body. We need trans people - for I believe they exist - to have a healthy stab at life.

The sports question is the tough one for you cannot deny your body when doing physical things. If they don't want a trans league then maybe a mixed gender league will suffice? (All prizes will go to cis men but at least nobody is being discriminated against on the grounds of identity!)

The sports question is the tough one

It really doesn't seem tough to me. If you have a male body, compete against males. If you can't win, maybe you can accept that and just not be a competitive athlete. Or, you can start a separate league for trans people or intramural or some other category you belong to. But there is NO reason to try to get into the women's leagues when you don't have a female body!

Bet he's not getting death threats.

[–]QueenBread[S] 10 insightful - 2 fun10 insightful - 1 fun11 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Of course he isn't. Nor is he getting unsolicited photos of penises. In fact, this is exactly why more men need to stand for us. Men only respect other men, they won't respect a woman saying the same things.

[–]Kai_Decadence 9 insightful - 1 fun9 insightful - 0 fun10 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Most likely not. As a guy myself who does speak out against the trans narrative, I don't really get death threats, mostly just insults towards my appearance (because I'm a feminine presenting man). I probably only got one violent threat towards me but for the most part, most are just attacks on my appearance or how "I don't know what I'm talking about". It's nothing compared to what I've seen hurled at women who are vocal against the ideology.

<One thing: When a woman who was once a man is competing against women who have always been women, I think she has an advantage, because she inherited a man's body, which is usually bigger and stronger than a woman's>

WAIT. He just called a MAN a woman. He just said "a woman who was once a man" -- as though the man is now a woman. He's not. He's still a man. Cleese is acknowledging men as women, just not born women. Cleese is an idiot.

[–]QueenBread[S] 22 insightful - 1 fun22 insightful - 0 fun23 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I think he's just baiting them into the argument. He knows that if he says "men" instead of "women" the idiots will focus on that part alone.

Also, I wouldn't call Cleese an idiot. The man's trying to defend women's rights and is getting a lot of Twitter hate for having the courage to stand for what is right. And instead of thanking him for helping us, you call him an idiot? Do you WANT us to lose the battle?

[–]Finnegan7921 16 insightful - 1 fun16 insightful - 0 fun17 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

He is using their language to point out the absurdity of the idea. Their response is going to be the predictable "they don't have any advantages from their previously male body", which anyone with two functioning eyeballs knows is total bullshit just by looking at these people.

[–]supersmokio6420 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Can't cheese the Cleese.

[–]distortedlinds 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

oh hell yes

[–]emptiedriver 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

well the beloved mr sulu has claimed that he got smacked down by some younger hip TV celebrity https://www.facebook.com/georgehtakei/posts/4607062192656531 Comments seemed mixed and plenty of people thought Cleese was reasonable but I doubt it was changing anyone's minds and he evidently disappointed some fans or just looked old...

That's what's most annoying: it's all about image, no one is actually listening to a discussion but just taking note of what side of which thing people slot themselves, so where they fit on a personal acceptability radar. Too many people talking at once to have a meaningful dialogue...
