Yeah, I've traveled a fair bit too. And I follow the international events, and particularly women's issues all around the world. Plus I've read/studied a lot of history and anthropology.

The notion that male supremacy, misogyny and oppression of girls and women were invented by white men - and today remain exclusive to white men - is laughable. It's an extension of the idea that all the evils of humankind originated in Europe, and only began to occur in other parts of the world after Europeans started colonizing other continents about 500 years ago and forced all the peoples they colonized to take up their evil ways. According to those who advance this idea, prior to the era of European colonization, everyone in Asia, Africa, the Middle East and the Americas lived in total peace & harmony with no tribalism, warfare, imperialism, bloodshed, genocides, hierarchies, exploitation, slavery and so on. There were no racial caste systems in China or the Indian subcontinent, no custom of female infanticide, no harems full of female sex slaves and no other kinds of slaves in the Arab & Ottoman empires, no Arab and Ottoman slave trade, no "honor killings" of girls & women, no concubines or geishas, no customs of forced child marriage and kidnapping of girls to make them into bride-slaves, no rape, female genital mutilation, forced veiling, purdah or menstrual huts and so on anywhere on earth until whitey from Europe showed up and introduced and imposed all these practices.

This whole "colonization" narrative is just absurd. Right now, in non-white majority countries, women are being raped, married off as children, sold into sexual slavery, taken as war spoils, denied education, credit, property, the vote, the right to drive, the right to even leave the house without a male relative.

And they have been since time immemorial, so to blame European colonization for all the world's ills is just not based in any kind of fact and will no doubt further add to the deliberately inflammatory rhetoric surrounding race.

The ultra-rich want us at each others throats so we won't turn on them. Whoever is behind the colonization narrative is doing their bidding, but we are responsible if we fall for it and let it divide us.
