I have the same thought. I'm going to tweet it with my tiny bird voice.

That is fantastic! Please ask Biden too.

I'm going to call Harris's office. I thought she did really well in the debate.

However, I was texting with a couple friends as we watched the debate and I was telling them (both women) what Harris and Biden want to do to Title IX (change it back from "sex" to "gender identity") and what the Equality Act will do to women's rights, sports, dignity, privacy and safety if Biden wins the presidency and the Dems win the Senate.

But then, the Republicans have their own Equality Act in the US House already (the Fairness For All Act), so both parties are out to set our rights back a hundred years, and make our lives very dangerous every time we leave the house.

My ballot is sitting on my kitchen table laughing at me. How can I vote for a party that takes pleasure in promoting men in women's sports, women's prisons etc... ?How can I vote against all the women that will need abortions in the future? 4 days later I'm still staring at that envelope.

[–]Spicylikegumbo 15 insightful - 1 fun15 insightful - 0 fun16 insightful - 1 fun -  (25 children)

Abortions aren't going anywhere. If they wanted to do it, they would have done it a long time ago. Abortion is brought up every year. It's a political scare tactic. Gender identity politics however is real. It's spreading like wildfires. You can actually get fired for being gender-critical. That's a bigger problem to me. I do not want my womanhood being erased, and I don't want biological men in spaces created for me.

[–]our_team_is_winning 11 insightful - 1 fun11 insightful - 0 fun12 insightful - 1 fun -  (8 children)

I think that too! I'm glad you said it. It's already happening at the state level, "gender identity" being a "protected characteristic" -- if it happens at the federal level..... it can't! No way do the majority of Americans believe TWAW. No way. Not even close. But they will try to sneak it through and the media won't report on it. People will hear "Equality" and not realize it's the "Insanity Act" -- I want Kamala on record answering "What is a woman?" I want EVERY politician on record saying it. Let them show how Woke they are and if they are on the Trans Demands Payroll.

[–]Spicylikegumbo 5 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Yep. Local and state elections are so much more important imo for reasons you stated.

Edit: And sadly they won't bring up gender stuff. They will probably lump it all under LGBTQ and act like that act is all about gay and transgender rights and then spew stuff about don't ask don't tell. And these politicians never have personal stories. No real transgender friends or family stories they can share. I actually had a transgender friend years ago, and the he/she didn't think twice of coming to the women's restroom. The he/she was a lawyer too. Never since knowing him/her did he/she speak of inequality.

[–]BEB[S] 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Please call Harris and the office of every other politician who's voiced support of the Equality Act or the Republican Fairness For All Act.

The more of us who call these politicians and ask them "What is a woman?" the more they'll realize they can't sneak these women-hating bills through without letting the public know, and that the backlash will be fierce if they do.

These politicians are telling us that gender identity is something concrete, and should have legislation based on it, no matter that gender identity is, by its very nature, based on feelings, while biological sex is subjective.

That's madness. But, using high-minded wordage like "EQUALITY" and "FAIRNESS FOR ALL" disguises what the legislation is - an attempt to solidify under law men's feelings over women's rights and safety.

Politicians need to know that (to use SJW terms) WE SEE THEM, and we won't be quiet.

Gov Cuomo, the official who sent sick people into nursing homes, is on the record via his twitter account.

Found that while looking for some gender tweets earlier today.

[–]BEB[S] 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Cuomo's brother, the truly annoying CNN host - (Chris?) caused a controversy a few years ago by Tweeting something along the lines of if a 12-year-old girl saw a TiM in the bathroom it was the 12-year-old's fault if she got upset.

As so many of us have noted, TWAW gives Lefty men the chance to scream their misogyny without punishment, instead they get pats on the back and WOKE points.

[–]redditbegay 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Did he Actually say that? Geese. He might have been the cnn anchor who told people theyre not allowed to read the wikileek emails, 'and they have to hear it through him'. I'm so utterly sick of the prevailing bias across most of our news outlets, we really need a Cronkite these days.

It's disturbing for how long the 'professional' political class on the left has laid claim to supporting social causes when literally every single one of their politicians (save for bernie) was against LGBT rights their ENTIRE careers. [Hillary even told ellen to stuff it with her desires to marry Portia]. IMo their grabbing onto the T excessively is just the latest political graft to try and convince people they stand for anything besides their malicious corporate donors; at least the repuglicans are honest about not giving a shit about any of us.

We need a real third party in this country. It's angering that the democrats are trying to destroy the Green party right now.

Just found another example of the dem party doing this type of thing in 2016, I guess it isn't a new strategy for them. F * c k the corporo democrats.

[–]BEB[S] 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Cuomo tweeted it and just a few days ago a GC Twitter user brought it up again and showed Cuomo's tweet, which is why I remembered.

The US news media is absolutely useless, but the ones that really bother me are the Lefty "independent" media that pretends to be above bribery but is carrying the water for Trans, Inc., due to the foundation funding they're receiving from the lobby.

Democracy Now! is the perfect example of that. I long for the day when Amy Goodman is exposed.

The Green Party in some part of Europe or the UK changed women to "non-men" and I am not kidding, so I'm not really on board with them either.

[–]our_team_is_winning 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Good find. Of course he mostly wants to take a jab at Trump and then states what the law says. He doesn't actually say TWAW or that he personally believes it. I wonder if he would?

[–]redditbegay 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Thanks, OurT!. I would bet if he was on his brother's show and kamala asked him about TW he would say, I quote "YASS GIRL! ALL PRETENDER MEN ARE REAL WOMEN! THEY CAN BECOME PREGNANT JUST LIKE YOU CAN" -Kamala would then give him a high five, (the camera would slow pan down to her timberlands) and then, if Cuomo had a spot for her on a campaign with increasing political power, she would make like Willy Brown right on the show. (IMO)

[–]WrongToy 9 insightful - 2 fun9 insightful - 1 fun10 insightful - 2 fun -  (2 children)

i used to say that without a definition of woman, there can be no women's rights.

Party A is OK with the definition, they're just not ok with the rights. Party B thinks the rights are ok but the definition is not.

[–]Spicylikegumbo 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

States have had more influence over these issues. For example, I left a red state that did not allow single women to have IVF. Basically I had no chance of being a mother in that state. I moved to a blue state and even though I have more reproductive rights, the gender identity stuff will gradually complicate life for me as a woman.

So I guess I will move back to a red state once I achieve motherhood or no longer care about it.

[–]WrongToy 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Whoa, there's actually any state that disallows women from having ivf?

[–]CastleHoward 9 insightful - 1 fun9 insightful - 0 fun10 insightful - 1 fun -  (9 children)

You're right. My daughter is going to High School soon and I'm evaluating schools in our district. I've already had to rule out 3 schools because they can't guarantee single sex bathrooms and changing rooms. Catholic School seems to be my best choice. That is the state of the world.

[–]mharmless 11 insightful - 1 fun11 insightful - 0 fun12 insightful - 1 fun -  (7 children)

I am a male who used to perform non-teaching work for a large school district.

One of the reasons I left is that every year I was required to complete an online training where I had to read and sign a document that said I would not share any 'gender identity issues' with any of the child's parents or guardians. I also had to agree that any child would be permitted to go into the locker rooms of their choice, regardless of any discomfort this might cause other students. Failure to sign the paper would place me out of 'compliance' with district policy and able to be fired within the terms of our union contract.

If you are in a position to do so, I'd recommend a records request of a prospective district's staff training materials for the previous year, assuming your state has such a mechanism. This will show you exactly where their priorities are really at.

[–]CastleHoward 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

That goes against all you know to be right or true and right, I imagine. I've immigrated to the UK so it's a different process here.

[–]mharmless 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

It was the primary reason I left. Every time I signed that document I felt like I was selling off a piece of my soul for easy money and benefits. One day my wife and I were talking about our child and what we wanted to do for his schooling, and realized that if we were unwilling to send our own kid into this madness that continuing to work there anyway was in some small way consenting to these wrongs.

Wish I'd had the guts to try to be a whistle-blower, but the price is too high.

It is just staggering that this collective madness has been institutionalized, and in schools no less.

Just about every horny heterosexual teen boy would give their left nut to see a girl naked in the flesh and now the schools let them, no questions asked.

Just madness. And good on you for following your conscience!

[–]mharmless 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Yes, they would. Especially the less socially adept ones. Which conveniently seem to manifest this madness more often.

Thank you.

I posted on here a very recent study on the very high% of transgenders who are autistic. They also have higher rates of ADHD, depression, abuse, other mental health issues. And, of course, a huge % are just gay and would grow up to be happy healthy gay adults.

Here's the recent study, but there was one a few years ago that found an even higher rate of autism IIRC:

https://scitechdaily.com/transgender-and-gender-diverse-individuals-far-more-likely-to-be-autistic/

Also, PINK NEWS of all places, IIRC recently reported that transgenders have a higher rate of mental health issues. I didn't bookmark it because PINK NEWS, but you can probably find it.

The ultra religious were at the forefront of pornography, decrying its morals (in the early 2000's). They are right about allowing our children to have split restrooms, I would see what else they might be right about, but I dont have the interest in religion.

I think you might be right in terms of abortion rights: I remember when abortion was legalized in the US and ever since then it's been used by both parties to keep voters in line.

I actually know a few people who loathe Trump and the Republicans who voted for them because their promise to stack the judiciary with anti-abortion judges.

But most Democratic women seem to not know that the Equality/ Fairness For All Acts exist, much less the threat they present to women. If Democratic female voters did know they existed, then they'd have to choose between losing abortion and losing every other right, but they don't.

That pisses me off, because the Democrats are doing really well with women at the polls, all the while plotting to destroy our rights immediately after the election.

But again, the Republicans have their own Equality Act, so we lose our rights no matter who wins.

I don't blame you. I'm in a safe Blue state or I would be in the same position.

All my Progressive women friends are telling me they have to vote Blue because Trump is a mad man and he and the GOP are going to destroy the country and perhaps the world. I agree.

I have introduced these same friends to the Equality Act, but - and this is what we're up against - many of them don't believe me.

I mean, sure, they believe me because they know me and know that I wouldn't lie or exaggerate - but the Equality Act itself is so damaging to women's rights, and the absolute media blackout that surrounds it is so complete (if talked about at all, the Equality Act is sold as LGBTQ protection), that they can't believe that the women-hating provisions of the Equality Act really exist.

The Democrats want to pass an act almost immediately if they win, whose implication only a few hundred thousand women in the United States are aware of, and most of those women are conservatives.

So many of the Democrats are lawyers, but they can't see the conflict with women's (and gay) rights? The party of #MeToo can't see the danger inherent in self-ID?

I am so angry with the Democrats. So very angry. As I texted to one of my friends, we have the choice of a truly insane wannabe dictator and the oligarch-loving Republicans who intend to destroy the environment, health care, food safety and make us all into wage slaves, or the loss of women's rights and safety.

But again, the Republicans have their own version of the Equality Act sitting in the US House, and the Republicans would be delighted to get women back into the kitchen, so it's not as if a Republican win will save women's rights at all.

So I am with you in terms of what a horrific choice, so maybe don't vote for President and any politician that supports the Equality Act and tell them why. Good luck.

[–]redditbegay 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

I cant reply to everything because this comment is too good, but the democrats are no longer the party of 'Me Too'. It was a partisan operation used ONLY To attack the republicans. As soon as Joe was accused, the lawyers for metoo REFUSED to help this abuse victim, because they didnt want to 'hurt joe's campaign', and the law firm who was running it were MAJOR democrat (politician) affiliated lawyers, and then most of the media would not even tell her story except for 2-3 SMALL media outlets, and then once Joes ONLY opponent was out of the race, the New York Slimers spent their hours trying to manipulate and discredit the victim with leading questions to make her questioned by the readership which was the total OPPOSITE of the way they treated any of the allegations in years past against Trumpf and his cronies.

The NYT is a corrupt PR branch of the DNC, and its fucking shameful how they treated her. Biden and Michelle talk about Trumps horrible family values, it would make you so sick, to see these claims side by side. That's how our ENTIRE media fools us.

[–]BEB[S] 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

The New York Times lost all credibility with its war propaganda in the run up to Iraq War II.

Its nonstop propaganda for Trans, Inc., calls all its science and medical articles into question too.

Joe Biden has a horrible record. But he is sane and Dump is not. Like that's how bad it is, we have the choice of a slime or a complete and utter mad man.

[–]Doe_aFemaleDeer 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Biden is also “completely and utterly mad”. He actively sided with Bush and pushed for the illegal Iraq Invasion War in the Senate. He said the unprovoked war was “worth the price”. The war killed 1 million people, including so many women. And later in a speech Biden kept confusing “Iraq” (which he helped invade) with “Iran”. Biden is either insane or evil incarnate.

[–]BEB[S] 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I kind of agree with you - I have hated Joe Biden for a very long time for precisely the reasons you named (and more!) - but the difference is that Biden won't just go off and attack a country without securing congressional approval.

Whereas I stepped away from the computer for a few hours today only to come back to see that Trump is threatening Iran.

And, as I've said, I've actually interacted with Trump decades before he became president. He had no boundries then, and, with whatever steroid he's on, and with what appears to be some kind of dementia, he seems to be completely losing what little mind he had.

[–]redditbegay 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

But then, the Republicans have their own Equality Act in the US House already (the Fairness For All Act), so both parties are out to set our rights back a hundred years, and make our lives very dangerous every time we leave the house.

Unfortunately, the dems will PRETEND to fight Trump on some of these things, I think if or when there is another dem administration (like the last one) there won't be any reporting on the cages that Obama Built, or the wars in Yemen, and 70% of the bad things trump does, will be done anyway, but for feau 'progressive' reasons.

FYI here is Joe's true feelings on border walls with Mexico (BEFORE Trump entered politics).

There would be a 'real' party, but the dems (and repubs) often work to stop them from forming any sucess.

[–]BEB[S] 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Electing the Dems this election cycle is just a bandaid on a gaping wound. I have so many Progressive friends who subconsciously refuse to see, much less acknowledge, that the Democrats are also the party of war, the party of banks, etc.

However, the Democrats do sometimes do things that benefit Americans - the environment, food safety standards, offering healthcare protection for people with pre-existing conditions, funding education, providing COVID relief...

And this election we are faced with a madman, one with the nuclear codes. I have interacted with Trump twice, well before he was President. Beyond anything else, he's dumb, but very cunning. A genius at self-publicity. A completely immoral grifter. And Trump doesn't care if he takes the whole country down with him.

So compared to that, the Biden Harris ticket at least offers two sane individuals. They will be horrible in their own way, not least of which is Biden's apparent whole-hearted buy in to gender ideology, but I won't spend every second of every day worried that The Donald will launch a civil war because someone made fun of his spray tan.

What are the issues with the Fairness for All act? Is that the one that makes sports sex based? And apparently other less good stuff?

[–]BEB[S] 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (7 children)

As far as I can tell (and I am far from a legal expert), the Republican Fairness for All act is close to the Democrat's Equality Act, but allows religious exemptions.

The silence from the media on both is not helping. I have brought up the Equality Act with Americans from all walks of life and no one in my real life had heard of it. This legislation that will strip women of our rights is going to be passed with the tacit approval of all those voting for Democratic politicians without voters even knowing about it, and that really pisses me off.

I don't think the Fairness For All Act is going to gain that much traction because I don't think Republican women are going to let it get far. Conservative women can be lionesses.

I will try to find out more about the Fairness For All Act and post it here.

[–]redditbegay 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Some other recent issues that the media were totally silent on:

The TPP

People protesting against the DAPL (oil lines on native land)

The democrats (and republicans) voting to sell your entire browsing history to anyone [Notice how quiet the dems were once this was law.... tells you all you need to know about their 'resisting' trumpf].

Biden's Rapes.

One party controls all the outlets, one party controls the other (fox). CNN had a contributor in 2016 who was feeding debate questions in advance to one side (you can guess who that was done for).

Our media is almost entirely beholden to one political party; the neoliberal neocon fucks who have stolen our democracy with the 'illusion' of choice. Notice how every single asshole in the bush administration is supporting Biden now, but they're going to RESIST trump, sure thing. TO me, Bush/Trump, you cant say bush is any better, with the hundreds of thousands he killed. And seeing democrats embrace these bush repubs just showed me that it was only 'fake' resistence during the bush administration. Hell here is joe trying to get dems to go into Iraq (before bush was even in OFFICE!!!!).

I don't think the Fairness For All Act is going to gain that much traction because I don't think Republican women are going to let it get far. Conservative women can be lionesses.

I agree, in that right leaning women seem to criticize their leaders a bit more often than many modern left leaning women do. Compared to 10 years ago (ending of the bush era), I think that the republicans have switched places with american liberals as the party of groupthink, and demonizing people for criticising Bush Cheney and now Bidenmala.

I will try to find out more about the Fairness For All Act and post it here.

This is an interesting writeup that leans slightly religious, as the group that wrote it, however it seems fairly balanced, from its analysis, but I havent read a ton about FFA yet, so ymmv.

[–]BEB[S] 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I have so many well-meaning friends who just vote for the Democrats, and mindlessly endorse the Dems' entire platform, because they're just too busy to research what the Democrats are actually up to.

They just nod along to NPR on their commute, maybe scan the NEW YORK TIMES at breakfast, and so never even know about the issues you mentioned.

And I agree that Biden/Harris are neo-liberals. It also skeeves me out that the same neo-conservatives who lied us into Iraq II are very active never-Trumpers. Bill Kristol, David Frum, all the military and intelligence people who've spoken out against Trump.

Trump would have gotten us into the war both some Democrats and Republicans want against Iran eventually, but I think he's moving too slow for the war mongers of both parties. Plus Trump is so unstable, and clueless, he'd probably accidentally launch the attack meant for Iran on France or something.

Thanks so mucH! That would be great - from your brief write up I don't think the FFA act sounds awful - though it depends on how they define religious exemption.

[–]BEB[S] 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Here's the Fairness For All Act on women's sex-segregated space.

tl;dr Like the Democrats' Equality Act, the Republicans' Fairness For All Act allows any man to self-identify and access women's sex-segregated spaces (well, at least bathrooms and locker rooms)

The most telling thing about right wing criticism of the Fairness For ALL Act is that none that I've read mentions that it puts women's privacy dignity and safety at risk.

NEITHER PARTY GIVES A SHIT ABOUT WOMEN.

"Transgender men and women use restrooms and locker rooms for the same reasons everyone else does. And when they do, they value safety and privacy just like everyone else.

It’s already a crime to enter a restroom or a locker room to harm someone. With or without this bill, illegal behavior is illegal.

Protections for transgender persons like those found in the Fairness for All Act work.
For years, over 20 states and more than 200 municipalities already have laws protecting transgender people from discrimination.

The FFA Act explicitly prohibits people from asserting gender identity for any “improper purpose.”

Nothing in this law weakens existing laws against illegal behavior. Assault and harassment remain illegal.

The FFA Act expands privacy by requiring public schools, public accommodations, and employers to accommodate requests for additional privacy. This will increase the availability of private, single-user facilities for everyone.

Provisions like those in the FFA Act have widespread support from hundreds of organizations across the country.

More than 250 organizations that do work to prevent and treat survivors of violence support laws that protect transgender people in restrooms and locker rooms.
These include The National Alliance to End Sexual Violence, The National Center for Victims of Crime, The National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, and more.
