Mermaids has for several years actively promoted and recommended the online service, GenderGP, which was started by two married physicians from Wales (Helen and Mike Webberley) - both of whom have since had their UK medical licenses suspended for their unethical acts, and one of whom has also been convicted of a crime for illegally prescribing to a minor.
The Webberleys responded by moving themselves and their website out of the UK. Now they've gone a step further, selling it to a Hong Kong-based conglomerate to get themselves more $$ and probably to insulate themselves with more layers of protection that being a corporate subsidiary domiciled in China can provide.
So today Mermaids is trying put distance between itself and GenderGP as Mermaids' downfall and backpedaling continue at a quickening pace.

Also, here are some of the many propaganda videos GenderGP has on YouTube that claim:
"gender variation" = being transgender = gender dysphoria
"no one is born or is 100% male or female"
liking the clothing, makeup or activities stereotypically associated with the opposite sex (specifically football or dancing) is a good indicator that you might be transgender
many people are "born in the wrong body"
whilst "gender variance" is not a "medical condition," it often requires medical treatment
the risks of treating "gender variance" with puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones and other medical interventions such as surgeries are probably much lower than the risk of the mental health problems and suicide that often follow from lack of medical treatment

Interestingly, the anchor on today's BBC clip, Victoria Derbyshire, has long gone along with the BBC party line to be gung-ho about medically transing kids, and in the past has treated Mermaids and GenderGP with kid gloves or quite favorably.
In this clip from several years ago, Derbyshire talks to one of GenderGP's child clients, 10 year-old "Jason" who describes herself as "a boy trapped in girl's body" and whom Gender GP put on puberty blockers when she was nine. Note, it was Jason's teacher who approached Jason's mother to suggest that Jason was trans and "we need to do something." Note also that wee Jason uses all the canned phrases that the gender vendors teach kids to use:

Derbyshire's interview with GenderGP founder Helen Webberley, who put Jason on puberty blockers coz it would be horrible if Jason were to menstruate or develop breasts:
