A womble is a fictional creature from children's books and a TV show https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wombles It's a common insult in the UK and has has nothing to do with JKR's made up words.

Hmm the Liberal Democrat political party in the U.K. released a definition of transphobia recently and one of the examples of transphobic hate was joking about identifying as a Womble. It’s probably in reference to that. They are fictional cartoon characters.

OMG - that makes it seem even more ridiculous that she was suspended - she was supposed to know that a common insult might be considered "transphobic" by a not very large political party?

Plus, the Twitter user who was suspended used "womble" on another Twitter GC person, who I'm assuming is a friend of hers.

Talk about policing speech... Seriously, Twitter...
