I agree with your synopsis; it was a Perfect Storm of changes exploited and promoted by special interests. (Some people raised the alarm on many of these changes, only to be cancelled before cancelling was so openly done.)

What to do? Speak out. On social media, and real life. Act out. Time to take back the school boards, the local, state, and federal representative positions, and the power-behind-the-power positions (these can be higher level civil service positions, for example). Run yourself or support candidates who don't hate women (no compromises! We can't afford to give up anymore!). Be proud to be a woman, you multi-tasker. You put up with more sh** than any man ever could! Build your support network for those times you just can't anymore. You are a role model without even realizing it.

Edit. Keep the phone from the cats! Cats used to pride themselves on being mysterious; the latest generations are blatantly distainful of delay or denial of their needs!

Agree 100%. And yet - with all this novel Coronavirus going around, it seems even harder to reach out to people: real, living humans. Just an example, the last time I met a friend in person was in April (distanced meeting!) and whooo boy, it has certainly impacted me. I'm not from the U.S. and I don't live in my home country anymore - it seems almost impossible to fight for anything. Who should I turn to? I don't look anything like a "radfem" myself, to begin with. (I'll post about this in the near future). I personally feel like I'm caught in a web - we all probably feel like this in one way or the other... But I do not know which direction to go.

My very easy-peasy solution so far has been deleting Facebook and also reporting every single ad on Instagram as "irrelevant." Then, sometimes, I come here and see there are still at least a couple of reasonable people on this planet. Yet I don't want to wrap myself in a bubble, so I try to (when I feel I have the energy for it) check the news, from various sites. It's crucial to try to understand what the so called other side sees, and why. What are the motivations for a person to love Trump, for example, or to blatantly hate any and every immigrant? I tend to think that the "basket of deplorables" as a single comment, for example, from HRC was very unwise and... downright stupid. And then everything started to spread like a wildfire.

I do not understand how to fight something I don't even know. So for me the best solution is to put everything in somewhat manageable boxes, and see what I can personally do with each thing. I cannot fight everything, nor do I wish to do that. Nowadays it does seem though that you're obliged to have an opinion on everything, and then you have to stick with it: god knows there is no mercy for people who see their past mistakes and try to correct their course. CANCELLED!

I do worry a lot about the younger generations who do not know a world without the ah, so amazing internet. I have younger people who are close to me that are most likely very susceptible to all kinds of horseshit the wonderful web will greedily advertise to them.

P.S. The Contact was made - my cat sat on my phone to show absolute dominance. Never trust a cat - but do love them with all you got :)

Edit: GODDAMN grammar, geez. Also, used the word "everything" too many times in a row. I will go sit on the naughty step now. Gladly I can have my wine glass there too, ha.

Yeah, these are challenging times, no doubt. But, sometimes life kinda lays something in your lap. I've been without TV/home internet for close to 2 months now, due to a natural disaster. Not sleeping well, I've listened to over-air radio broadcasts on a battery powered radio. An early morning call-in talk show has been talking RGB death and politics. Opportunity? We each have our individual strengths and situations. I'm not a great "off the cuff" speaker- I brood. But, I can write and edit to be concise when needed. Drafting three statements today. Each tailored for audience demographics.

I can also sign petitions, redirect my donations budget, and try to stay informed. Cumulative small contributions like these are not to be dismissed!

Yes, the young are to be pitied. They've been left in a sorry state. And so, society in the future, too, I imagine. (Children are not my area, that's for other people to address. I'll be over here talking science...)

Edit by staying informed, should I witness a like-minded individual stand up in public, I have decided I can and will stand with them. I am free and able to do so; so I shall.
