Two years ago, Lego released a series of “blind bag” Harry Potter minifigures. I bought about twelve (shoutout to the “feel guide” that helped me find the ones I wanted). I got them at Target.

Now there’s a new set out - the Moaning Myrtle one is awesome, btw - and while they’re at Walmart, Michaels, Jo-Ann, and Barnes & Noble, they’re strangely absent from Target. Are there some exciting new minifigs in their space? Nope. It’s the same ones they’ve had for months.

Target has other HP stuff, but this is the newest merchandise, having come out earlier this month. Call me a conspiracy theorist, but my guess is that Target declined to sell this set because of Rowling’s views on trans stuff. After all, they had that huge virtue-signal a few years ago about trans people in their bathrooms. They’re probably under contract to keep selling the other stuff for a certain period, but decided not to sign a contract for this.

It’ll be interesting in the next few months to see if they start stocking new HP merchandise.
