Trans activists hate Rowling because she’s a woman James Kirkup Wednesday September 16 2020, 12.01am BST, The Times

If you’re unwise enough to rely on Twitter for information about the world, you might be wondering if JK Rowling is dead. The hashtag #RIPJKRowling has been all over Twitter for several days but it’s not an obituary. It’s a wish. Thousands of people have been using an open platform to talk gleefully about the death of the woman who created Harry Potter.

I say “woman” deliberately, because Rowling’s sex is pivotal. The central fact of this story is not what Rowling has said and written. It is not her opinions about transgender issues. It is that she is female.

The Twitter mob praying for her death wouldn’t accept that. They’d say their rage is triggered by Rowling’s “transphobic” writing, especially a book that none of them have read yet. That book is the latest Cormoran Strike crime novel, which Rowling writes under the pen name of Robert Galbraith. Troubled Blood features a male serial killer who wears women’s clothes. This is not original: Hitchcock’s Psycho and Thomas Harris’s The Silence of the Lambs are among many works to use a similar device. The real world sadly offers examples, too.

Yet at the time of writing, at least, neither Psycho nor the Hannibal Lecter stories have been “cancelled” by trans-rights advocates wishing death on their promoters. So what makes Rowling uniquely deserving of hatred in the name of tolerance and inclusivity?

The pretext is that she has said bad things about the transgender issue. Those include arguing that women have the right to exclude male-bodied people from intimate spaces, and that women have the right to express their opinions about law, politics and society. How very dare she?

Even the briefest search of the online hate raining down on Rowling this week shreds that flimsy pretext and reveals the essential sexism of the mob. I tried to count the number of #RIPJKRowling tweets calling her a “bitch” but there were too many. “C***” was almost equally common.

This is appalling but unsurprising. I’ve written a lot about this issue and seen countless examples of women who speak out in the transgender debate facing targeted, sustained and, ultimately, sex-based abuse. Men who engage with the topic — and there are still too few — face no such attacks. A movement that claims to be modern and progressive is all too comfortable with slapping down women who speak out of turn.

Many parts of the discussion about trans rights are complex and nuanced but some are very simple. One is that much of the anger that poisons this issue has nothing to do with trans rights. It’s about people who hate women.

Good on you, James! Keep shouting this from the rooftops! He is absolutely spot on.

TRAs hate Rowling 100% because she is a woman. The whole drama has nothing to do with the so called "transphobia" but it is entirely about women hating. Why is this society so retarded.

It's run by men, so.

They also hate her coz of the particular kind of woman she his: a highly successful, straight, white "cis" woman who is a mother and happily married to an accomplished man; who is now of a "certain age" (over 50, in or past menopause, meaning in the view of these young misogynists she's past her "sell by" date and should be binned) - yet for all that she is a self-made billionaire and one of the the UK's leading and most generous philanthropists.

They also hate her coz she is a woman who is smart, outspoken as well as extremely well-spoken, with a great command of language and a knack for timing, who has shown she is capable of subtle and incisive thought, and who has generally left-leaning politics.

Finally, they hate her coz of her looks. Its no coincidence that the middle-aged woman who evokes the most ire from these young misogynists happens to be naturally pretty, with delicate features and a very nice figure (especially for her age, in their view, coz she's still slender and shapely, instead of being "matronly" the way these young misogynists think "dried up old hags" should look). What's more, JKR "presents in" a pretty "gender conforming way" - she wears makeup and her abundant locks long, and sports conventionally "feminine" attire such as dresses and high heels. And looks damn good in them.

Rowling's enormous success and her looks really stick in the craw of these young misogynist losers living in their own mothers' basements gaming and fapping as they spin fetishistic fantasies in their heads about becoming female themselves. Rowling is everything they never can or will be.

Most of the guys going after Rowling are bound to be failures, or have already failed, in many or all spheres of life - and a large number of them are physically unattractive too, to put it mildly. In an ideal world, the looks of Rowling's most vitriolic detractors and abusers would be irrelevant, but in the real world we live in especially today, I think the appearance of these guys - and the fact that no one else wants to date, blow, fuck or even get near them - plays a huge role in their animus and rage.

Also, I've noticed that a disproportionate number of these young men seem to suffer from early-onset male pattern balding and noticeably receding hairlines. Hmm, wonder if there's a connection between that and being a venom-spewing misogynist MRA/TRA who wishes death on JKR?
