While stocking a book isn't an endorsement (good grief, that would be a minefield), and we will always take orders for books that aren't in stock, there are more worthy books to put on the shelf – books that don't harm communities and won't make us sad to unpack them,” a spokesperson wrote.

Even Trump wouldn’t stoop to this bullshit. This is the bottom of the pits, and it’s a goddamn bookstore. Has it not heard of literature? Has it never read about book burnings or book censorship? This is absolutely intolerable and should be picketed with noisy bullhorns (scare away the “clientele)

“More worthy books to put on the shelf.” Oh yeah, like romantic novels loaded up with rape & seduction. And best sellers written by those who just graduated from a “How to write a Novel” course at the local YMCA. Or how about all the stupid, robotic self-help and vitamin books that line the shelves. Or if you’re more high brow... your collection of true crime books...

I’ll bet you anything this standard of theirs doesn’t apply to shitty books written by shitty men, like Lolita.

Are these independent bookstores in Australia? Can a local help me out (mate)? Because if so, I can’t think of anything dumber for them them to do than to be brick and mortar independent bookstores fruitlessly trying to cancel JK Rowling of all people in 2020. I assume they have some self-interest here because other then someone with an axe to grind, who would make this business decision? The pressure is absolutely false. In fact it would be great if people called them and asked if they stocked the book and then when told no, say “oh that’s a shame. I guess I’ll have to go to [other store.]

We know these mob members wouldn’t have bought the book anyway. And I would freaking love it if JK came out with another major Harry Potter universe book right about now and watched so I could watch these woke authoritarians pretend like they weren’t going to excitedly consume it.

They'd all cry 'death of the author' and try to rationalise the hell out of it.

oh hell no. Are they going to stop stocking Silence of the Lambs too? Whatever happened to if you don't like the book/movie don't fucking read/watch it.

It's what I call the 'social media mentality' - things that you disagree with no longer need to be merely blocked, or ignored, they must be removed from the platform altogether.

Sigh. All the problematic male authors in the history of literature, how many of them do you want to bet are being removed from shelves like this? Oh wait, it's not actually about being "woke" is it? It's just about hating strong (real) women.

So did they take down all the Thomas Harris books too? How about Ian banks book 'the wasp factory'? Nope just attempt to tear down a powerful woman because she's attacking the patriarchy.

Apparently they are not stocking her books to make the store a ‘safer’ place.

Are they expecting the books to randomly fly from the shelves and hit a trans person in the face and kill them? Lol

The Kennedy organization only had to hear from someone that JKR was attacking trans people before they immediately began the process of stripping the award from her.

They only had to hear about it. What kind of vetting process is that. How are these awards even given. Should I be getting one then? I'm pretty sure that I aided in the abetting of climate change. I did some things, said some stuff. Where is my reward J Ken.

First ever in 50 years is not a good thing, guys. That marks the end of an organization if nothing else. No one is thanking you for this. No one is going to take you seriously and you willingly gave up all credibility. Do you think the people you momentarily please actually give a flying fuck and support your cause? Have you made lifelong friendships? Where are those people now? Where is the impact?

The only impact I see is the one in which you single handedly put on display an intense disdain for a woman who has insofar done no actual or illegal harm to anyone and is merely grappling with the vast amount of idealogies that threaten the rational and the reasonable.

before they immediately began the process of stripping the award from her.

They never did? JKR returned it,when a woke female Kenedy accused her of transphobia?
