I am a new moderator over at reddit and I just recently made a subreddit called r/Cisgender_Women. I created it because I am sick and tired of women's spaces not being exclusively women oriented. You probably don't like me using their terminology, but I kind of have to make some concessions in order to have that space. The subreddit allows males to post, but they are required to only talk about women only topics and can not brigade. Topics such as " Are nonbinary and transwomen welcome" are not allowed. It is not a gc subreddit, but it can talk about gc things. I can understand if you aren't interested, but I still welcome you all the same.

I predict this will get shut down as a ban evasion. Reddit looks at patterns of which users cluster together and will likely decide that you shouldn't have the freedom to associate there. That place is dead to me.

I have to say, it's a strange name for a subreddit. How about women who don't care about "cis" notions of gender? Anyway, good luck.

Its a good experiment, I think. Their argument is if somethings just for 'women' then it has to include trans because TWAW. But there's lots of trans-exclusive subs. It pre-empts that claim using their own language - it isn't a women's sub, its a ciswomen's sub.

I don't think it will last either, but it will be interesting to see.

So if they can identify as "women" what makes you think they can't identify as "cis"?

I don't like that the name validates their fake terminology. My $.02.

Good luck to you! I hope that your sub draws all those 58,000 or so subscribers lost in the wilderness after the GC subs were banned.

And, while I will never use "cis," I applaud your playing their game in order to beat them at it. You go, lady!

Thanks for this. The more spaces for women the better, even if we have to sarcastically use their terminology. If nothing else it can funnel women to Ovarit. Is it possible to explicitly disallow trans people and cis men from posting?
