They don't see it that way, obviously. They believe trans women are women, so of course they belong in womens' spaces, movements, thoughts, etc. They see us the same way people see homophobes or racists. I don't think the majority believe there's some kind of payout for themselves other than their belief that they are morally correct.

I can't believe that they do see trans women as women. I believe they think that's the moral belief they need to have, but on a base, instinctual level, I believe all humans know the differences between the sexes. It takes massive, constant brainwashing to force someone to say otherwise.

Sometimes those who have doubts and shame (i.e. women deep down thinking "hhmm, but after all this he still looks male" and feeling immediately guilty for it) are the most ardent defenders of an ideology. Because by lashing out against the "enemy", they prove to themselves and others that their thoughts are pure.
