Right after the 2018 midterms, in which Democrats won the US House, the Democrats in the House put up the Equality Act. Every House Democrat voted in favor of the Equality Act when it was passed.

Right now, every Democratic Senator backs the Equality Act and Biden has said it's his number one legislative priority, so, women of America, be prepared to lose your rights, your safety and your sports, maybe as early as next year, if the Democrats win the Senate and the Presidency.

I loathe Trump and the GOP, but I'm sitting this one out.

You can always vote for a 3rd party.

Remember politicians are narcissists, no vote is a wasted vote because they hate it so much when you vote for the other guy, even a small party, they will try to win you over.

A like mind on the use of the vote! People have either hand-waved away, or sneered at, this use, which could be one of the most effective ways for citizens to assert their views!

I'm in a state where my vote for president won't count.

I will vote on other issues, and vote against Democrats in local races, and encourage everyone I know to vote against the Democrats (but not vote for the GOP) because the Democrats from the local level up in this state are all Trans, Inc., cheerleaders and are incredibly rude when I call their offices to protest.

I honestly don't know what the Democrats are thinking. Sure they're getting huge amounts of money from Trans, Inc., but women make up the backbone of the Democratic party, and women make up more than 50% of the US.

Piss us off, Democrats, and once we find out about the Equality Act and all the local legislation you've passed to destroy women's rights, safety and sports, you're going to have a nation full of angry women, across party lines, to deal with.

I have always considered myself to be one of the most fortunate women in history to have been born in the US just past mid-century, into a time while I grew up: birth control (!!!! Huge !!!), financial, property, education, and employment rights, to name the biggies. Now, less than 50 years after I bemoaned the failure to ratify the true Equal Rights Amendment, I fear the future of women in the US to be dire. "Worse-than-Sharia", here we come.

You are so right, so we have to fight back.

There are groups formed like WoLF and FIST. WoLF is doing amazing work fighting in court.

There are groups forming like WHRC, which will specifically take on the Equality Act.

There is OVARIT, where we can gather and organize. Although, I do think that we need to also post here (SAIDIT) there and everywhere and in forums that have nothing to do with women's rights.

And then TALK. I talk (before the lockdown) to people in the airport and Uber drivers. I talk to cashiers, and waiters and my mechanic.

We cannot, cannot, back down. Our daughters lives depend on us.

I hate Biden, too. But the republicans are working hard to sabotage climate action and to keep big money in politics. I'm not American, but I'd really love it if you all would vote Trump out then argue this with Non-Trump when he's in office.

Republicans are still massive misogynists too....the religious right wants to force little girls who were raped to risk their lives giving birth, Mike Huckabee style. They want to defund public schools to shove their religious views on everyone using tax dollars. Bible thumpers want women out of the boardroom and back into the kitchen and “submissive.” They believe women aren’t fit for leadership or even a career. Every social ill is blamed on “feminism” or “working women.”

I live in the south and Republican males and their pick-me supporters despise women and infuse every level of politics with their religious views. They can fake concern for women for awhile over the trans thing, but then they’ll go after gay people, ALL women, and non-white people. They don’t give a shit about domestic violence victims and they believe MRA bullshit about “divorce rape” and boys being oppressed by “the system.” Trump dog whistling about Andrew Jackson every 5 minutes has them horny for him too.

Right? Can't fight the TRAs if you died from heatstroke, or during your forced childbirth, or starved because "handouts are evil you lazy [swearword]", or shot by the police, or deported, or ...

Your opinion, cool.

However, my blood went cold to read how quickly this issue will be addressed by the Dems. Working and advocating has better outcomes when there is TIME to do so. Rolling back bad policy, regaining protections that are lost, requires efforts and commitments I fear we will never see/achieve again in this country. Especially, when our words and self-definitions have been appropriated. So, Dems best be screaming NOW, not wait til after the election, to protect women's rights!!! (My opinion) Edit: to add thought

As a non-American who can't go to any homeless shelters in my country without men in them, I honestly hope Trump wins so that America can be the leading example in holding up sex-based rights. Maybe my country will follow in a few years.

I doubt the climate will collapse in 4 years and, if anything, capitalism will make certain things cheaper and more available (e.g. solar power, electric cars), and more things being made in the US (i.e. less cross-ocean cargo ships and more state-specific factory regulations). I honestly don't know what Obama/Biden did to help the environment in their 8 years.

He can make changes--like voter suppression and stocking the high court with judges--that will last longer than four years, though.

No. I am not voting for this girl-sniffing, AGP-pandering POS.

With EVERYTHING going on that he should be doing on his first day in office, he chooses the status quo pro-idpol legislation. We know why. He also comes off as a child predator...so there's also that.

But unfortunately, I'm going to have to vote this bastard in. 1. First female VP. 2. Overall, much better policies than the Republicans for women on an economic level, 3. The Republicans are actively destroying the world on a much larger scale.

[–]BEB 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I've recently heard it claimed, mostly by men, that women are the primary beneficiaries of Affirmative Action. I know that none of my friends nor I have ever benefited from Affirmative Action, so I think that's revisionist history to make people think that women of my era didn't achieve success through their own hard work and by forcing themselves through the glass ceiling, with the scars to prove it.

To that end, I want the best VP, not the woman VP. I find it insulting that Biden said he wanted to choose a woman, not the best. IMO it makes women look like we need a hand up to achieve great things, and we sure as hell don't.

Oh for fuck's sake. It's horrible enough I'm forced by the threat of more Trump and the end of American democracy to vote for yet another freaking neoliberal to the right of Richard Nixon, but now there's this shit too?

[–]jet199 8 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 0 fun9 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

You think Trump is the one ending democracy?

Any evidence for that?

[–]yishengqingwa666 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

America is not and never has been a democracy.

[–]Tikiri 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I’m voting 3rd party (still looking into who’d be a worthy candidate). No way in hell I’ll vote for anyone backing this “Act”.

I know I won't, it doesn't matter if the other side is worse on every other aspect.

[–]yishengqingwa666 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

At least Trump knows that girls and women are real and not a feeling in a man's head.

But he’s a fucking rapist...

[–]SharpTomorrow 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

So is Biden, what's your point?

[–]yishengqingwa666 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

So is Biden.

Most men are rapists and yet they run everything. What are we gonna do about it?

[–]yishengqingwa666 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Trump 2020, obviously. He's going to be re-elected.

I'm not voting for these pieces of shit.

A MASSIVE voting boycott is long overdue. And a tax strike.

Why does the post say there are 18 comments when only one comment is visible?

It's a profane Men's Rights Activist whose posts you can't see.

Just ignore his type, or better yet, any time a Men's Rights Activist comes onto this sub, call a politician's office and tell them that women's rights, women's safety and women's sports are not to be given up to men who claim to be women.
