I agree that not helping a man on crutches is going too far, but there are countless people who don't give money to homeless people for one reason or another. Same thing with artists. Not giving money to homeless men or male artists doesn't make someone any worse than the people who don't give money to any homeless person or buy art from any artist.

Personally, there were a couple homeless men I didn't give money to, because the one asked me if I wanted to suck his dick and the other one saw me, smirked, and started gesturing to his crotch. There have also been male artists/writers that have made things that I like, but have also made a bunch of sleazy, sexist stuff. I wouldn't completely stop giving men money for whatever reason, but I can see why a woman might want to just support other women, or favor women over men.

And, ultimately, we all have a limited amount of money to give away. No one can give money to every person and/or group that they might want to give to. We all inevitably 'exclude' people, groups, charities, etc from our money.

See this comment is extremely disingenuous and really pisses me off.

Did anyone here say you have to give money to every homeless person you see? Did ANYONE even for a second tell you to give money to rapists and sexual harassers on the street? Did anyone tell you to pay sexist douchebags that make art that demeans women? Did I even for one millisecond in my entire life say you should give ten dollars to a homeless man that grabs your ass? No. Because in that case, you’re not supporting them because they’re shitty people or even sexual criminals.

That is not even remotely the same as not opening a door for someone BECAUSE THEY’RE A MAN. This is so incredibly missing the point that it seems intentional. Can you seriously not put 2 and 2 together and understand that there is a difference between not supporting someone BECAUSE THEY ARE MALE, excluding men as a rule (from art, from work, from basic human decency), versus because they are a shitty person who happens to be male? Like are you fucking kidding me?

If you want to waste your time helping men I really don't care. But no one else is obliged to join you just because you can't emotionally cope with the idea of some women not giving a shit about males.

If you're in the US, our mental health systems are absolutely shit. Most of those dudes on the street likely needed to be medicated to even start the thought on rehabilitation into society. I can't be too pissed about some kid with tourettes shouting racial obscenities if he has a disease that makes him do stupid, insensitive things. People with severe mental illnesses that are unmedicated can kind of exist in the same category. The guy could have just been a drunken piece of shit, and I don't want to make excuses for him I'm just thinking of everything shitty in our society that leads to these moments.

That's not to shit on you for not giving him money, I mean.. that's not your fucking job or responsibility at all. I wouldn't have given him money either, especially after the nasty as come-on.
