    I don’t think Kamala Harris was chosen for her ability to attract just the black vote. I think she was chosen for her ability to attract the South Asian vote as well. South Asians overwhelming vote democrats. However, recently Trump has been wooing them because of dumb things the Democrats do every once in a while and winning. Kamala Harris will probably pull them back. Right now there are a lot of articles highlighting her South Indian hindu roots. They want the Indian vote.

    I'm not sure about that. The SA population is too small, or maybe nonexistent, to make a difference in the swing states that will determine the vote. However flawed she is as the representative for the black voters, she was chosen as a symbolic nod to pander to the black vote. Also, they might be thinking she'll do a good job in the traditional VP role of an attack dog. And here I must say, when the VP candidate is a woman, the VP as attack dog strategy doesn't work and more than likely will backfire. But despite that strategy keeps failing, for some reason the campaign experts can't see that.

    There were other black women candidates. South Asians might be small but they have a lot of money and usually live in swing states that could determine the elections. Trump won on razor thin margins. I don’t think the democrats want to lose those margins. And Kamala Harris might identify as black but she was solely raise by her hindu single mother. South Asians take note of that. From what I understand, there are 500,000 Indians living in those swing states that can vote.
