I share many of your thoughts.

US far-Left media is an example of being bought by the transgender lobby: the flagship Leftist TV news program, Democracy Now!, which should be called Hypocrisy Now! because Amy Goodman is full of shit- is fully onboard the Trans Train. Why? Look at its funders.

Same with NPR.

Same with media outlets like Scientific American, Nature, the New York Times, NBC, Mens Health, Teen Vogue, etc., many have been bought by companies with a vested interest in pushing the trans lobby agenda.

There is something much more sinister going on. GC activist, Jennifer Bilek, who has a blog that you can find on Twitter @bjportraits thinks the ultimate aim of the transgender lobby is transhumanism, and she makes a good case.

We are running out of time and desperately need to organize. Most human beings are on our side, but we need to reach them with GC arguments and we need to do it now.

Yes. It SUCKS that resources I used to consider useful are now tainted by this garbage. Used to read a lot of Guardian articles, but some of their recent behavior has really gotten me put off. Where can I go for realistic information now? Many scientific articles are blocked with expensive paywalls... It blows me over that I have to look up "Christian Times" or whatever to read about what bizarre antics the lobby is up to in the US.

One thought I've had is to tell people about this phenomenon in a way that circumvents the whole issue of women's rights. TBH, many people in the US are misogynists and/or they hate and revile anything that sounds like "feminism". Frame it in a way that centers on children and the fallout everyday people will experience due to this, and a wider audience might be reached.

I think the issue that might make people wake up (in the US, that is) is to educate them about how the trans lobby is trying to access children, remove parental rights, groom children in schools under the guise of "sex education" etc... just comment drop. Men who are happy at the idea of "feminists being put in their place", for example, are revolted at the idea of weirdos grooming their precious sons into transitioning, or at the idea of their daughters getting mastectomies without parental consent. The idea of them having their "paternal rights" removed tends to piss even the most misogynistic men off.

Another point to make is this-- who really wants their tax dollars to go towards transitioning, let alone have their insurance premiums skyrocket due to the costs related to transitioning? I've known so many women who had extreme difficulty getting hysterectomies and/or breast reductions, or even accessing birth control. I would be irate beyond words if fetishistic men had carte blanche access to cosmetic surgery where women's health-related surgeries are denied.

I was just asking my extremely misogynistic ex what he thought in regards to having TW compete in women's sports. He actually brought up this topic to me long before I knew it was "a thing" because he wanted to tease me for being a "lefty". He thought it was ridiculous, although he also thought it was stupid for women athletes to sue for equal wages. Anyway-- I brought up the point to him that allowing trans people into the teams of their choice could open up the possibility of making performance enhancing drugs legal. If a man is allowed to take estrogen and compete in sports, why can't a "dysphoric" woman take testosterone? ...if "gender is fluid" as the trans lobbyists say, couldn't a woman athlete declare herself "nonbinary, identifies as woman" and take steroids, and still compete on the women's team if she claims she identifies as a female? He kept saying, "Well, estrogen is not a performance enhancing drug." This is true, but a woman who sees herself as trans or non-binary could conceivably take steroids/testosterone, gain an advantage, and yet still identify as a woman. How could the team boot her for performance enhancing drugs if she claims to be "trans"?

A couple of people at work were not aware of this whole movement, and became totally disturbed by it when I told them a thing or two about stuff that has legit happened in the UK.

What disturbs me the most is that this stuff will undoubtably be pushed under the radar in legislation, particularly if there's a democratic sweep. It will be a part of legislation for larger social-welfare bills, just as the whole "gender ideology" concept was pushed in some states under the guise of "sex education". I'm not saying "vote right to avoid this", because I could easily see right wingers viewing transitioning as a "cure for gay children". I'm at a loss as to what to do aside from spreading the word.

Aside: https://sci-hub.tw/ Strips the paywall off science articles.

I'm pretty much where you're at. I have no idea what's going on in the US because there's just a total media and political blackout and every state is different. I don't believe it's better than the UK, I believe it's worse, we just don't know it. Gender Spectrum is in schools, California and NY have self-ID and misgendering laws with no democratic input. I don't know if these are being enforced and I don't believe they will actually stand up as constitutional... but maybe I'm dreaming.

Ditto. I'm afraid of a New ERA replacing sex with gender identity. If Dems do win, we need to be on the phone to them daily. MAKE them listen.

I've been thinking about that for a long time. I wish they'd hurry up and pass the thing before that happens.

Media has been strange for a while, and this weird thing where we keep blaming another country for interference is telling of something more sinister festering under the surface.

Ever since Obama signed in that executive order on the bathrooms my hackles went right up. I didn't trust Clinton from the getgo, I mean who stays with such a disgusting piece of shit like Bill and could possibly be a well-functioning do-gooder. She was fake as shit, and so have been the grand majority of female leaders on the left. On the right, the majority of Republican women that are put in the forefront (Palin, Bachman, etc) are embarrassing and like a caricature of sheltered housewives-turned politicians. I hate to sound hopeless, but it feels like all of this is sort of staged to some degree, and we're just going to go through the motions to find out what the plans are for whatever pieces of shit have the most money to guide politicians with.

[–]chrysthefeminist 10 insightful - 2 fun10 insightful - 1 fun11 insightful - 2 fun -  (9 children)

I didn't trust Clinton from the getgo

She was trying to be a good trans ally during her campaign, but never really understood it. After she lost she hesitantly expressed confusion and doubt about the "womanhood" of "trans women", causing Chelsea to become angry with her. I don't think Hillary likes it any more than we do, she just realized that it was politically radioactive.

who stays with such a disgusting piece of shit like Bill

Millions of women. That's why women never get anywhere.

[–]Comatoast 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (8 children)

We also don't get anywhere when we trust other women that only seek power, then are ready to throw other women under the bus to get it. I won't argue about it, you like her and I'll respect that.

[–]chrysthefeminist 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (7 children)

I don't think Hillary Clinton was "only" seeking power. I think she was ambitious and wanted to serve too. There is a conversation currently going on on MSNBC about sexist bias in the treatment of women candidates in which they are criticized and undermined for being "ambitious" and "seeking power", while male candidates with the same traits are called "rising stars." Your comment reeks of that sexist bias, exactly. The same thing is being done to the current vice presidential candidates being considered by Joe Biden. If it's a woman, there's always something wrong with her.

[–]Comatoast 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (6 children)

Well, I didn't want to argue with you about it on the basis that you like her. Now you're resorting to personal attacks and more or less calling me a sexist because I don't like her. Project all you want with " If it's a woman, there's always something wrong with her." If I chose to feel a political candidate is nefarious and decide against trusting them, I'm also an adult fucking woman and that's my decision.

[–]chrysthefeminist 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

I don't see any "personal attack" in what I said. I noted that you were saying the same thing about Hillary as was generally used as a (sexist) criticism against female candidates, but not male - that they are power seeking. Maybe I shouldn't have said "reeking" of sexist bias, but I still see your comment as very similar, maybe identical to, the usual takedowns of women. It's funny that you're so hot under the collar over it, like I'm trying to take away your right to make "your decisions" and hate Hillary if you want to. I couldn't care less. But you sure didn't convince me that your criticism of Hillary was any less sexist than I originally thought it might be.

[–]Comatoast 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

So calling someone a sexist in a woman-centric space isn't meant to be a personal attack? Yes, absolutely hilarious that I'm so hot under the collar about it, condescending air quotes and all.

The discussion was about feeling unable to trust politicians and media. I stated what I felt, firstly naming a male political figure that I didn't trust, then later a female political figure that I also don't trust. I'm not going to make an addendum that men are also power-seeking, because yeah.. no shit. To be honest, if you cared so little about it you wouldn't have replied yesterday, deleted it, then replied again today--but here we are. You're targeting me specifically out of this entire thread because I don't trust someone that you clearly do and I stated why. If you're not convinced that I'm not a sexist because of it, that sounds like a you problem.

[–]chrysthefeminist 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

I am not going to apologize for pointing out what looked like sexism to me, especially in a woman centric space. Hillary is the brunt of a huge amount of misogynist hatred in this country which I think she doesn't deserve, she is a fellow woman and I wanted to defend her. I am sorry you are so upset at what you see as a personal attack on you by me, but it really wasn't intended that way. Saying that I thought a specific comment of yours seemed sexist is not the same as calling you a sexist. As I said, I guess I shouldn't have said "reeked of sexism", that was a poor choice of words, and I am sorry for that. Anyway, I just don't care enough about you as an individual to "personally attack" and/or "specifically target" you, so why don't we just end this here?

[–]Comatoast 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

My whole barfblog was about it not being sexist because I don't feel the way I do on the basis of her sex . All of us have dealt with sexism, and it fucking sucks to feel belittled over something that we can't even control. I get absolutely ass blasted about having things that I say be misconstrued, which has usually been tied right along with sexism itself and used against me for leverage.

If your apology is sincere, then I'll accept it.

[–]chrysthefeminist 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I am sorry only over my choice of words, but I STILL don't know that you do or don't feel the way you do on the basis of sex. Women can also be sexist, consciously OR unconsciously. Attacking a woman on the basis of her being power seeking is sexist. You attacked me first, basically telling me I wasn't getting women anywhere by trusting Hillary, but you didn't even notice your own fucking attack because it was on me, not you. However, I doubt that you consider me to be worth any apology from you. So fucking leave me alone, you make me sick.

I get absolutely ass blasted about having things that I say be misconstrued, which has usually been tied right along with sexism itself

Oh, so I'm not the only one who's perceived it.

I generally agree with you but I want to make clear that Russia absolutely did interfere with our elections and has every incentive to do so. I have followed Eastern European geopolitics for a long time, long before the last few years. This is Putin’s M.O. He’s methodical but not clean and stealthy because he doesn’t need to be. He has no accountability and total control over the government, wealth, and the press.

That being said, yes Democrats are using that and Donald Trump’s captured Republican Party as Bogeyman to see themselves as the moral crusaders because Trump and Republicans are so hellbent on being cartoon villains at this point. So the Democrats and especially liberals and progressives right now don’t feel like they need to be introspective and have adopted this bastardized version of intersectionality as a religion. At the very least my values tend to align with those who are left wing but they are being kept in the dark about the nature of what’s being fed to them as basic human rights. People feel like they can’t have conversations and dialogues anymore. Being right is more important than getting it right and I do believe that if we were to get rid of Donald Trump we would have more room for diversity of thought on the left because people could stop seeing him as the one and only enemy who feeds their self-righteousness.

You get nowhere in politics unless you're fake. BTW, Hillary is a TERF. However, she'll do whatever she has to--like back the Iraq War to keep her Senate seat or stay with her powerful cheating husband. If she were in power, I don't know if she'd have stood up to this or just caved because that's where all the money and power is. Campaign financing is the root problem of so many American political issues.

It's charities now too. Just today I wanted to donate to one, but figured I should check all the information just to be sure.

Good thing I did, since not only do they support this movement, they also somehow seemed to think that people can identify as intersex.

Needless to say I'll be looking elsewhere to spend my money.

[–][deleted] 11 insightful - 1 fun11 insightful - 0 fun12 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

Yes. Tons of benign sounding organizations are pushing this crap behind the scenes. Organizations like Planned Parenthood are tainted forever in my eyes, since they're pandering to the gender-bender BS.

[–]msteacherlady 8 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 0 fun9 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

I get envelopes asking for handouts from both PP and the ACLU at least monthly. Back when PP was particularly under the gun, I sent them some money. Several years ago some cheerful enby-looking kids with clipboards on the corner asked me to support the ACLU and so now I'm forever on their mailing list because I gave them $50 one time, and a little more here and there.

It's election season and I tend to get a little loose with my money to support organizations I like during this time. Instead of giving them money, I sent back a note. For PP I sent them a note of appreciation for how they served me personally in the past, but said I couldn't support them any longer due to their providing inadequately tested gender-affirming care. For the ACLU I told them I'd make another donation if they ever are brave enough to support women's rights against the trans activist agenda.

It really makes me cringe that they waste resources on treatments outside reproductive health, STDs, birth control; etc.

[–]msteacherlady 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Exactly my thoughts. Straight up has nothing to do with reproductive health. I was so shocked to find they were providing it.

[–]vitunrotta 9 insightful - 1 fun9 insightful - 0 fun10 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Thank you for putting this into words. It has been irritating me to no end for years now.

I don't live (sorry but... thankfully) in the U.S. but that doesn't mean that my own country's media is somehow that much better. Everyone has drank the Kool-Aid and think they're on the woke side (ugh). I suppose there are many people in media/journalism who still think on their own and question a lot of things but their voices either won't be heard - or they'll get called whatever slurs if they even dare suggest that the current transactivism movement etc. is anything but pure bliss and totes gorge. So there's also the question of "how much are you willing to give up" - your job? Your livelihood? For simply telling the truth? The people that still have the guts to do so deserve every ounce of admiration I can muster.

As a kid, teen and young adult I wanted to become a journalist SO BAD. And looking at the newsworld today - I must say, maybe I dodged a bullet. I was never the one to just swallow up some horseshit, so if I had ever become a proper journo I would have been bullied out for WrongThink years ago. At least now I still have my "dream" and one day... One day... clenches fist ...one day I'll come and start writing actual news, without the blatant, disgusting bias every single news outlet is showing today.

Also, I myself have found a couple of important telltale signs that something's VERY off:

1) a reporter (or equivalent) uses a LOT of adjectives, when none are needed - thus making you FEEL things when they're supposed to just TELL you things. It's not fucking storytime, it's the news. CNN especially is so horribly obvious about this that they're on the same level as Faux News in my eyes. No attempt in being honest: it's all fucking politics now. The smallest of word here and there will make you think badly or in a positive way of a certain person and/or situation. It's subtle brainwashing and if you don't know it exists, it's hard to catch and... then it's usually already too late. Hook, line and sinker, you know the drill.

2) When someone - ANYONE - tells you there is a truth that must not be questioned and that you should NOT look at what the other side is saying: ALWAYS. LOOK. And look hard. It's a lazy but effective way of making you feel guilty if you DO search for the "other side's truth," and it's also extremely dangerous if you look at reporting as a whole: they're using almost fascist techniques in order to pull in certain types of readers and make you stay in line, so to say. Disgusting.

The whole idea of journalism being the "gatekeeper of democracy" is a big, ugly fucking joke at the moment. I feel like you do - I can't honestly read any publication without cross-checking on multiple different sites, even the ones that I usually abhor. I want information, not some privileged arseface on a cable channel to vomit their "truths" in my brain as if I was unable to think for myself.

But like I said... One fucking day... Y'all just wait.

[–]jet199 5 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Frankly I've always been extremely cynical.

However even I've managed to get myself in a media bubble reading only left wing papers even though I still followed quite varied people on SM. It's just there's some stories they simply don't report so you'd never know they'd happened unless you read the right wing news sources too. It's scarey when you realise you are being groomed by the "good guys."

One big problem I still see on GC is that people only apply their suspicions to the gender debates and don't realise most narratives on the left now have the same issues, the same pattern of withholding information, the same pattern of appealing to feelings, of name calling and refusing to debate.

[–]CaptainJanegay 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I feel the same way!! Honestly I could have written this post myself. I'm on a similar journey and feeling like I don't belong on the left anymore, but definitely not on the right. I'm changing my party affiliation to Independent because I'm sick of both sides.

The one thing the left and the right both have in common is their hatred of women.

[–]Comatoast 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Ok. Fuck this nonsense where if I don't support a political candidate of someone's particular choosing, then I am wrong. My personal female favorite political candidate choices were shit on and referred to as"Russian Assets", then dismissed. Likely that contributed to both of their lack of screen time and attention in the past. Like whomever you choose and have respect for those that don't feel the same.

[–]msteacherlady 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Every envelope I get asking for a donation from here on out gets the return envelope back with no money but instead a note promising them a donation if they start advocating for women against trans-rights activism. So far I've done this for the ACLU and for PP. It's only a matter of time before the DNC sends me another letter begging for money. They'll get a note too.

I just want to hear about real issues again. Supporting middle class labor, education, the environment. These are the things that get my dumb ass to vote, but of course the left is eating its own self over fairy-dust. I'm amazed at how they're topping themselves this election cycle. Can you even imagine being a politician today? You won't have the luxury of taking a "pass" to answering stupid questions about issues that do not matter to most people. And if you answer them wrong, you're done. This has nothing to do with how actual constituents feel, it has everything to do with the raving megaphone of media and social media. "JK ROWLING BAD." Most normal people are not exposed to any nuance of that particular accusation. Now imagine she were a politician running for office. Most people aren't going to bother to get at the truth and will just tick some other box because "JK ROWLING BAD...uh...because of some LBGT stuff? I dunno."

My address isn't on the return envelope, but the only reason I get them is because I was a donor in the past/am on some mailing list because of my interests, so I think it gives a little more weight than just being a rando on social media. Like, hello, I'm a real woman here who was on your team!
