(Quoting the article:)

"Some would say that it's to do with everything in terms of the female body that's leaking and seeping, and anything that's coming out of us as women is seen as disgusting. So that would be menstruation, breast milk, sweat … what it is to be female is seen as abject."

"What I would say is that it is a sign of misogyny, it's a sign of positioning something that is essentially feminine as other, dirty and disgusting."

There's also the impact of religious views and teachings. Many of the world's major religions — such as Islam, Christianity, Judaism and Hinduism — refer to menstruating woman as unclean and suggest they be segregated during their period.

Even today, in some communities, women are banished to sheds during their period because of so-called 'impurity' during menstruation, despite the ancient practice being outlawed.

I am truly waiting for the first TRUE TiM to want to transition in a country where women are treated like doormats and periods are certainly not just some sick fetish. Oh! Not a single one wants to try that out? What!

Methinks, if you want to be a woman so bad, you should live at least a decade in some of the most misogynist countries in the world. Then we'll see how much you really "feel like a woman." :) They would go reverse-Shania-Twain in a day.

Here's some broader [sic] perspective.

Appreciated, thank you. :)

I'm (too much) aware of how religions treat women, but of course I can only ever speak from my own experience (which is ultra-fundamental Christian). I'm always willing to know and understand more about how women all over this world are treated in such backwards ways because of our biology. It maddens me because biology is not dirty or sinful.

The dudes that came up with that idea sure were some pervs, that's for sure. (And that's my justified opinion, in case someone gets offended.)
