I respectfully disagree. Even getting to the person who can answer basic questions has never been straightforward. Much less that person taking time and laying out options and offering a personal helper to navigate the system. When I think of one woman I knew and how hard she had to battle with insurance to cover her breast cancer and how that delayed her treatment and how she died I'm not seeing someone who had helpful navigation through the insurance landscape; she's a lot more typical of the experiences women get in the medical maze. I've never even heard of being appointed your own personal insurance helper through the insurance itself and could very much have made use of such a service.

I had a Nurse Navigator for my breast cancer experience from start to finish, but she worked for the "Woman's Health Center" where I was diagnosed and treated. I only heard from my health insurance company through letters, and second hand through the center. BTW, that "Woman's Health Center" that treated me has knocked out the word "Woman" from its title as of 2020. All of the workers there were women in the past, but all of the bathrooms are now ambiguously labeled, so I think men may now be employed there though I have not seen one. I am guessing that they want to avoid litigation.

Yeah. I know I'm supposedly able to get help navigating it through my union, but the couple times I tried I got a dead end. Sorry about your Women's Health Center. 😡
