  1. Claim that men who don't find the law to be a deterrent are, nevertheless, waiting for "self-id" laws to change so they can commit assaults.

URGHHHH why does EVERYBODY purposefully misinterpret women's concerns about this? Men who want to commit assault will do so. Some have already and will continue to go in the womens bathroom to do it. BUT!!! If Self ID is legal, NOBODY CAN STOP AN OBVIOUS MAN WITH ILL WILL FROM GOING IN THE WOMEN'S BATHROOM IF HE SAYS HE'S A WOMAN!

Nowadays if some bearded creep is seen going in the women's room staff and bystanders can and do assume he's a man who has bad intentions and they may verbally or physically confront him. Remember what happened to Charlotte Clymer? Staff demanded to see his ID before he went in the womens bathroom. Unfortunately that staff person got fired for "transphobia" after trying to keep women safe.

That kind of community policing WILL STOP if SELF ID is a law. Allowing many more predators easy access to vulnerable women and children, taking citizens power to do anything about it away unless said creep is actively harming someone. Some dude could be chilling in the corner just waiting for an unattended child to come in to pounce but nobody would be able to legally do anything if he SAYS he's a woman. Unless the property owners decided to call the cops for a loiterer. Which probably wouldn't be the highest priority for police.

If you've ever worked in retail before, I'm sure you've heard stories of thieves who roll big ass TVs out the door, and when verbally confronted by staff they say "you can't stop me" and keep going. Because they KNOW the security guards can't and won't put hands on the thief to stop them. I used to work at a big box store so I've heard of several cases like that.

Self ID will cause that to happen. Except with male perverts in the bathroom. "You can't stop me." And legally, we won't be able to.
