It can also have ramifications for your job or study. Flinging around accusations that someone is Transphobic can mean that companies, employers etc will be able to drop you due to you apparently breaching whatever equality policies they have in place. It has the potential to ruin people's livelihoods.

Whenever I asked them why or how something is “transphobic”, they’ll either not answer me at all, or they’ll try to tell me it’s transphobic to not view them as their target sex. Usually they can’t even answer though, they’re so used to people getting shut down with these accusations.

It legitimizes their made up movement. Someone has to be oppressing you to be oppressed
