How are trans folks being left out when they can still find shelters for their birth sex? Transmen would be allowed in women's shelters and transwomen would be welcomed in the almost nonexistent men's shelters. What? Transwomen don't want to take shelter with men? We don't either!!

No, I don't want a transwoman in the shower next to me. What is so hard to understand? The transmen might be hairy with a low voice but most aren't much taller/stronger than me with a piece of anatomy that can impregnate me. I might be at this shelter for sexual abuse in the first place. Now men can identify as trans, keep their dick and get into places like this with vulnerable women.

Someone posted this on Facebook pissed off about it. This Christian girl was dating a dude that transitioned. Did she have the nerve to call herself gay when her partner still had a penis? Probably not because they broke up shortly after that. I wanted to laugh react but I'm not ready to tell her why she's clueless yet. Transwomen are transwomen otherwise they would be called WOMEN.

Ben Carson seemed to actually give a shit when women in these shelters complained to him about what was happening.

I know that there's folks that don't like him, but he seems like a wholesome person and doesn't have that generally disgusting slimy politician vibe.

Wasn't he raised by a single mother who read to him and his siblings all the time and pushed them to think? That may be why...

The LGBTQ rights group Lambda Legal also suggested that trans people seeking shelter in alignment with their gender identities are protected under the Fair Housing Act, a 1968 law that bans discrimination in housing on the basis of characteristics like race, sex and national origin. A future court ruling could definitively decide whether the definition of "sex" under that law also extends to gender identity and sexual orientation.

Well, here we go.

But even after the Fair Housing Act was passed in 1968, women in the USA still experienced huge discrimination in housing because we could not get a mortgage or home improvement loan. (Or an auto loan or credit card, either.) Until the passage of the Equal Credit Opportunity Act in 1974, even women with high paid jobs or wealth from other sources could only get a mortgage or any other kind of credit if we had a male guarantor.

As you might imagine, this discrimination hit single, widowed and divorced women and lesbian couples particularly hard. As it did households consisting of several employed female relatives and/or female friends/roommates who because of circumstance or choice were lived housing with no grown men.

Until the passage of the federal Women’s Business Ownership Act of 1988, women with their own firms and professional practices in most states also could not get any kind business loan without a male co-signer and guarantor.

They contradict each other. I don't understand why none of these legal orgs point this out. Surely they know, so it's all a scam to replace sex as a protected characteristic?

Maybe people in general are a little dumber than given credit for on understanding the difference.

Why so many deleted profiles?

The general public sure, but not the legal organizations like Lambda and the ACLU. They know what they're doing. The ACLU now wants to overturn Title IX!

' Multiple studies have found that trans people face high rates of homelessness yet also experience widespread discrimination when seeking supportive services. '

There is a reason for their homelessness. It's not being trans.

If the equality act passes there will be no sex based protections. Sex will be defined out of legislation and replaced with gender identity. Every womans space will be filled with TIMS. As someone who leans Democrat its upsetting that they have thrown women under the trans bus.

victory!

edit- Now that i've read the whole thing- BOOOOOO NBC for not asking ANY gender critical feminist groups for a comment in support of this decision! Instead they dredge up old news about ben carson saying hairy men will claim to be trans to get in womens shelters. Which i'm sure has happened before. And somehow they think a staffer walking out of that meeting is relevant and important info?

Trans women can have a separate wing within the male shelter if they fear other men, but they don't belong in female spaces.
