Once I asked how was I supposed to teach my 4 year old about what "women" and "men" are so they can make an informed decision as to whether they are a woman or a man. Like, ELI4 what a woman is. (Because, I only want the best for my daug...uh... pre-gender indentified child).

I basically got told to ask her what she felt like and affirm it. But how can she make that decision without knowing what they are? Oh no, I was being deliberately obtuse and woman and man can mean whatever it you want it to mean. 🙄

They don't realize (or choose not to believe) how deeply ingrained the stereotypes and gender roles are in our culture, starting from even before birth. From the minute a child is born they are bombarded with all these ideas about what a man and what women is supposed to be. Gender simply does not exist, we made it up. Sex is real - but they refuse to acknowledge that.

“YouRe jUsT CloSeDMinDed” because we won’t accept a circular non definition. That twitter is a twit.

No, I won't accept it because it's NOT AN ANSWER.

A woman is a woman is a woman is a woman is a woman is

LOL imagine that with other things “what is a dog?” “A dog is an animal that identifies as a dog” admittedly, this example isn’t accurate to the situation, but still funny!

At least they are not going "what is woman? It is female" and "what is female? It is woman" cycle yet.

But now 'female' also means nothing more than an identity. We have no trans-acceptable words for describing a biologically female human being, and so we have no name for the group which suffers from sex-based oppression of all types.

A trans woman recently wrote that because that person identifies as a woman that person's body therefore is female. #nodebate, I guess. But that body is not female and cannot become female, and we really need to hold on to our words before we become mute.

My cat def identifies as a human with no opposable thumbs or credit cards or driver's license. I'm pretty sure she identifies me as a cat with opposable thumbs, credit cards and a driver's license. Who's mis-speciesing whom? 🤔

I also want to speak up about species oppression. I identify as a tree, I know I'm a tree, I've been a tree ever since I was born/germinated but I'm still denied tree rights, such photosynthesis enabling surgery and branchification. Please validate me

You're valid! No need to be green to be a tree! After all, it's not easy being green, but nobody ever sang about how hard it was to be a tree. Unless you're a Charlie Brown Christmas tree. Tree power!!

I lurk in trans groups on Facebook and every now and then somebody will actually confess that that is their entire logic -- "anybody can be a woman and a woman can be anything". But 9 times out of 10 you get responses like "You are not worth the emotional labor of educating" which really means "I can't think of a way to justify my own arguments so I'm not going to try".

I've seen some try and pull out the male/female brain studies, although I believe they have never accounted for socialisation and neuroplasticity causing the changes. If you get rid of dysphoria, the absolute disgust at seeing a sexed body, then there is nothing left but borderline misogynistic social norms.

I have never heard a good answer as to why a penis can be female, but a "feminine brain" can't be male.

[–]Anonimouse 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I can do this. I can do this...

If it's attached to a brain that IDENTIFIES as female, it's a female brain in a (male) body, with a female penis.

If the male/female brain thing is true, do they support diagnosing trans people using brain scans? I'm sure they don't.

Around the same time TERF became a thing, wasn't there also something like "truscum" for people follow that line. Or even wanting something as basic as psychiatry involvement.

I've stopped considering the opinions of anyone with an anime / cartoon pfp.

Edit this got rambly, been a long day.

When I was little, I lived in an industry town. I was flat convinced that just like women grow breasts, men lose fingers. Kids are very astute observers.

So if I'd lost any fingers I guess I would be a man. Lucky for me I still have two hands fully intact although part of my baby finger is numb from being too stubborn to get stitches a few years ago.

(Yes I'm a doctor. The doctor working at the clinic that day was incompetent and I'd rather have the scar and numbness than have let him anywhere near me with sharp things, lol)

But my legs have all this hair on them for some reason. So idk. Maybe I'm a trans-finger man. 🤔

(I also clearly recall my mom and my GP discussing putting tubes in my ears when I was about four. My only reference for "tubes" was toilet paper tubes. I would lie awake at night trying to figure out how they would fit... Yeah let kids decide on transing, what could go wrong.)

You could've drunk the Kool-Aid, but no. You're so close-minded. Besides, I don't have to justify my existence to you, you're just a stupid female.

/S

How do you even know. Maybe I was meant to have eleven fingers. Bigot, I'm dead now thanks a lot /s

Biology and reality are "opinions" now.
