Does anyone else find this disturbing? I'm presuming these are federal forces arresting demonstrators, which is already on shaky ground. 12+ armed agents seems an excessively forceful response against the mentally ill.

I found it very disturbing actually. You’d think for the protestor the fact that he had all those agents on him would be a more serious issue rather than them misgendering him.

Aggressive mentally ill people are more dangerous (to a police officer) than a average criminal. The average sane criminal will see that violence against the police won't get him anywhere or he will understand that if he spergs out, he risks to get shot.

A mentally ill person on a outburst doesn't think about those things at all and might not even care about pain anymore. And it's not even his own fault.
