He also made comments about Israel a week after having a go at JKR so it's probably more to do with that. He is accusing right wing media of hounding him out and he needs time to recover from all the abuse.

Zero self reflection going on there at all.

Good! He's an abhorrent misogynist as bad as Dr. Shitface Harrop. I agree with you about the Isreal thing after Long Bailey was sacked. Shocking that the left's going to go to bat for Israel but not women, however if some anti-women politicians end their careers by being anti-Israel, not going to complain. If nothing else, him saying such a thing as a politician illustrates a profound lack of sense. Honestly, I think all hardcore TRAs who think women should just give up their rights and are shocked when women say no are missing a screw in their heads. It seems like Labour's rife with people disconnected with reality.

It's also hilarious that he blames "right wing media" which in his far-left definition is everyone to his right. TRAs love to smear GC as being alt-right or right wing white conservatives.

Of course not, he's a man.

At the weekend he apologised for Facebook comments in which he suggested Jewish claims to Israel were "not progressive in [their] very nature" and that Zionism was a "dangerous nationalist idea".

And that's why Starmer fired him. He's cracking down real hard on that.

There is definitely a problem of abuse. This is the same shit that gender critical people deal with. Just cause it happens to someone we don't like, doesn't mean we should get behind it.

There's no evidence he was being abused. He was asked for receipts and he got none. Rather he was told he was going to be sacked and was offered the option of resigning first.

An MP has to represent everyone not just special interest groups.

That was all about his statement about Israel. Showing support for Palestine, even if indirectly implied, is a total no-go in the UK parliament. He thought that he could be super progressive and get some extra SJW points, but that doesn't work with Israel. You don't just say that Israel should be more diverse and progressive.

TBH I don't agree with his resignation since I suspect it was more to do with pro-Palestinian sentiment than the Rowling thing.

Whatever your views on the Israel-Palestine conflict, the fact Israel's government has such a stranglehold on UK and US politics is troubling.
