There's plenty of space for women on the Left! Our role is to show up at marches, insist that lefty sexual harassers are innocent, always vote for even misogynist Democrat candidates, and keep smiling no matter how casually the Left tosses reproductive rights in the ditch and erases sex-based rights.

The Left thinks they can shit on us because where else will we go? TBH, I now get how certain fiscal conservatives have felt watching the Right be taken over by evangelists - but the difference is, Republicans use the religious insanity to attract votes while still running their swindle game behind the scenes. Democrat leaders are actually drinking the koolaid and looking to implement policy.

It's even stupider than conservatism, because they believe that the clothes you wear actually changes your sex. Which is just wacko.

They remember about us only when we are useful. They don't give a shit about us as much as conservatives, but they can still pretend that they care about us when they need our votes.

A huge talking point that I hear all the time is that "at least they support abortion": they support abortion now because it's beneficial for them, but given how fast they were willing to declare women bigots for focusing on their biological issues, I see no reason why tomorrow they could change their minds on that as well.

The second biggest argument I see is that they follow science and not religion: except they have a huge boner for Islam and are all for declaring that "identifying as female means you are female". Whether they actually believe that shit or not, they are more than happy to pander to it for pr and woke points, and that is just as dangerous as actually believing in it.

I don't support or vote right wing, but I can't support or vote left wing anymore. Maybe if they started growing some fucking brains and guts, I could. But right now I am politically homeless.

Agreed. It's a mere coincidence that abortion is an issue that benefits women AND men. But they don't support because they care about women, they throw us out the window the minute we are no longer useful to them.

I really like these two articles that kind of sum up what's happening on the left Exiting the Vampire's Castle and How Knitting Fell into a Purity Spiral.

I recently stumbled upon/learned about the Knitting Wars. Just shows how the SJW mob will go attack the target of the week.

OMG. A friend told me about The Knitting Wars. I laughed -- until it spilled over into fabric arts.

Can I have some background on the Unherd site? It seems way too sane to be true.

I think it's fairly centrist with Freddie Sayers being the former editor of YouGov and the founder wrote for the Independent and the Telegraph, I believe. It's one of my favourite news sources currently, with a lot more actual journalism than bigger news sites are doing and no paywall. Their lockdowntv videos were really interesting and the interviews didn't involve too many leading questions.

Thank you. Definitely going to give it a shot. So far, as I said, it seems sane.

I don't know any more.

But I'm not willing to not vote, or to vote for people not on the ballot who have no chance of winning, or to vote for a party that never has represented me and has consistently wanted to keep people stuck in the past (and therefore I've never supported or voted for them).

As an American, my plan is to vote Democrat and do what I can to nudge the party toward the goals I want to see accomplished. If viable candidates emerge from a different party, or unaffiliated with any party, I'll certainly consider them in future elections.

^ My plans exactly

Only if you're a sex-positive, transfucking, pro sex work, pro-porn, legalize everything centrist Clinton/Obama Democrat who cheers when antifa punches a Nazi. Or someshit. You have to subscribe to the mindset of the ChapoTrapHouse guys or Joe Rogan types who are a sick mix of libertarianism, misogyny & faux intellectualism. Then and only then will you have a place among Thee Left.

I no longer give a fuck though. I'm a leftist (not a liberal or Democrat) overall with my own views on individual issues who doesn't need a congregation of head-nodding zombies to agree with my every position. But it would be nice to have a community with shared views & voting power.

I think if we don’t make ourselves known we make it harder for the normal people on the left to just be normal, also I am convinced this is a trend that will be recognized as unhealthy and mass delusion- I don’t know what it will take but plenty of people are aware of reality. Many on the left trying to pander are people trying to seem woke or women trying to be nice the way they’ve always been told to be by peers/family (obviously women aren’t all like that but many young women try hard to do that). If there is no dissent within a party on something stupid we are just letting them take over. Please excuse my language I do not mean any hostility I am simply passionate about this.

The basic trouble women have on the left is that once you remove all those evil power structures which decide who has authority then what remains is the physical power men have over women. I mean last year a Labour candidate in the UK was literally picked up off her platform by a man and moved off it. And you know all those physical differences you learnt when arguing about TiMs in women's sports like greater lung capacity. That means men are simply louder than women. The majority of men can shout the majority of women down or talk over them without any effort.

Women need some sort of hierarchy and power structure in the political system just to be heard, just to get basic respect. This means feminists need to tend towards the centre left no matter how seductive those naive utopian ideals of the far left are. I mean the idea of society being remade for the better after the revolution comes straight out of end times christianity, you don't get much more patriarchal. I bet you when most scraggly far left men imagine what the perfect society after capitalism will look like they are imagining free love and an endless supply of young people to have sex with them, no different to the Islamic terrorist idea of paradise. Some have hinted as much to me.

I can agree that structure is good, but hierarchy, in the present form, is designed to oppress women.

Women make up half of all humans on this planet. Why exactly do we need to fit ourselves into someone else's movement? Why is there a need to decide between right or left, how about just women's rights? Maybe it can be it's own thing.

[–][deleted] 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

excellent point.

[–][deleted] 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Exactly. We don’t need to ask permission to be at the table. We should just sit at the table.

It is because "the Left" were hijacked by "the Right". So now those people who act like right-wing, asking for right-way solutions, thinking like right-wing people are calling themselves "left" and a lot of media is calling them as "left".

Hijacking meaning of words is common in authoritarian rullership. For example, in Russia they created new movement of "Cossacks", and those people were very-very loud, they were legalized bandits, who were cross-dressing and acting very retarded. They were in all news and active nearly for a year. And now when in Russia someone will say word "Cossack" in meaning of ukrainian cossacks (or historical cossack countries), everyone instead will remember those clowns.

Same is here as well. Clowns calling themselves "Left", they in all news and screaming a lot. And boom, now "Left" associating with them in minds of most people.

Edit: posted this twice by accident. I don’t see much of one, barring the abortion and birth control issue— although I could see trans women voting against abortion rights so they can adopt children— to groom and molest.
