If you told me in 2015 that I would come to immensely admire Buck Angel.... I would have asked why. How bizarre where a few years can take you.

Buck Angel is one of the last few non delusional transsexuals, along with Blaire White

Rose of Dawn is cool, too. I'm sure 'non-delusional transsexuals' are actually a majority, but they're afraid to speak up for fear of being 'cancelled' within their own communities, or the current batch of TRAs are just much more vocal.

I like Rose of Dawn, but am quite unhappy that he's calling himself straight. It's really damaging this new definition of homosexuality.

No, I found many sensible transsexuals, who know very well they didn't magically turn the opposite genders. I regularly follow them on Twitter and find new ones too, to remind myself it's not transexuals the bad guys, it's mysoginists who are - and they come in any form, they just decided to take the trans disguise right now.

I agree. Debbie Dayton also says sensible things.

Doh! Thanks!

Fat fingers...

It's funny how often transmen are way more reasonable and understanding than their counterparts. Such a curious phenomenon....

Seriously though, Buck Angel seems like a pretty chill dude. I know transmen don't carry the same clout transwomen do (also another mystery), but hopefully more and more start speaking up like this. Of course they'll be branded as "self-hating", but people will be afraid to go after them as viciously as they do women.

It really isn’t a mystery. Before he changed his sex, he was a woman. I do respect his speaking out lately.

[–]stitchedlamb 30 insightful - 2 fun30 insightful - 1 fun31 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Yeah, that's what I was getting at, haha. He must completely understand how we are feeling.

[–]luckystar 32 insightful - 2 fun32 insightful - 1 fun33 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

Buck Angel has said plenty of times that he knows what it's like to be a woman (seeing as he lived as one before) and he agrees that women's voices are being silenced. I really enjoyed listening to this interview : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ha4PI9-EkPs

Interesting, thanks for sharing!

Gay men that trans themselves are also often far less extreme than (((transbians)))

[–]StrictlyDykely 25 insightful - 1 fun25 insightful - 0 fun26 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Lots of trans men are absolutely horrible. Buck’s generation and the people who transitioned in the decade after him are such a different group than these loud TRAs now. They are likely the ones who are upset to see how insane this issue is

[–]emissch 23 insightful - 1 fun23 insightful - 0 fun24 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Yes, and less aggressive and less likely to advocate for rape/death threats to "TERFs." It's almost like they're women, huh.

[–]GConly 50 insightful - 3 fun50 insightful - 2 fun51 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

I'm guessing Reddit realised they went a bit further than they should have. After all this isn't a bunch of women, but a bunch of former transed people. Hard to have an accusation of bigotry stand up well there.

I've gone over there and told them to relocate here, or prepare to. I'm expecting a few to start nosing around at some point.

[–]Minerva 47 insightful - 3 fun47 insightful - 2 fun48 insightful - 3 fun -  (1 child)

Hmm...maybe this is why they brought it back for now? Seems Reddit is paying attention to public complaints to large audiences. Interesting.

[–]gparmesan[S] 48 insightful - 2 fun48 insightful - 1 fun49 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Yep. They're cowards and will pass this off as some kind of error when we know damn well it wasn't

[–]Sebell 44 insightful - 2 fun44 insightful - 1 fun45 insightful - 2 fun -  (6 children)

When the first ban wave came, I purposely left de-trans and stopped posting there to protect them. They are NOT the same as GC - they are real people who deserve their own space. So maddening.

It's a witch-hunt.

[–]jet199 49 insightful - 2 fun49 insightful - 1 fun50 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

You can't protect them. They are a far bigger threat to TRA than a bunch of feminists arguing over makeup and hairy armpits.

[–]Femaleisnthateful 34 insightful - 1 fun34 insightful - 0 fun35 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

I was browsing over there and noticed some downvoted posts from non-transitioned persons complaining/ warning of GCers taking over their sub. This seems like the same narrative that played out with the women's health subreddits - accuse them of being 'taken over by transphobes' and then kick out their mods or force them to go private.

[–]DorothyGale 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Weird eh? When they banned GC I just left Reddit, didn't want to hang around - certainly didn't bother brigading other subs to put them in danger, I don't have the time these other people on Reddit sem to think I have for childish crap. Smells like BS to me. It suited their agenda to band detrans and it was a poor decision (as was the rest of the ban) but that sub particularly was to support people going through a difficult time and they showed them no compassion whatsoever.

[–]Marsupial 31 insightful - 1 fun31 insightful - 0 fun32 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Yeah, I really don't want to drag them into this. They have the right to talk about their experience. I've got nothing but support for them. Detransitioning after you've made the whole transthing a major part of your life can't be easy. I'd advice to stay out of there, it's better both for us and for them if they're allowed to be around. It's true that we can't protect them, but we should avoid becoming an excuse to shut them down.

[–]LasagnaRossa 25 insightful - 1 fun25 insightful - 0 fun26 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

They are against the TRA ideology. In their view they are the worst because they are traitors.

[–]leparsdon 21 insightful - 1 fun21 insightful - 0 fun22 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Because the trans community doesn't want you to know that there is regret from transitioning. In their minds "transitioning" is the cure-all despite psychiatric care being discouraged, and they want anything that maybe questions the choice to permanently maim yourself to be banned as conversion therapy. I am thoroughly convinced that plastic surgeons and the pharmaceutical industry is behind this.

[–]muomo 29 insightful - 1 fun29 insightful - 0 fun30 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

Silencing your own because they don't promote your agenda. Despicable. Sure, ban r/GenderCritical and any other woman-run/feminist subreddits and claim it was because we were all hateful transphobes, some people will buy that (especially if they never visited them) but how the hell can you justify banning r/detrans for any other reason other than it doesn't support the "correct" TRA agenda? This is proof that the ban hammer is being used without any thought whatsoever.

[–]Femaleisnthateful 8 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 0 fun9 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

When I checked out r/detrans there were a few transactivists 'concern-trolling' about GCers 'infiltrating' the sub. This is the narrative they use to justify banning a sub. One of the mods, GNC_Centric, has her own YouTube video series and has done video chats with Graham Linehan. It'll be interesting if this gets more public exposure.

[–]muomo 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

God, those posts/comments got on my nerves and they all basically say the same thing. "I think you guys are important and valid, but it's an undeniable fact that this sub has been infiltrated by TERFs. It started off good, but now it's just a transphobic cesspool." Of course with no proof or quotes to prove that. Just another example of the TRAs' "I don't like what you said, therefore you are a TERF" nonsense, even if the person is/was trans themselves.

[–]Femaleisnthateful 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Yeah, god forbid any desister/ detransitioner describes how gender ideological thinking negatively influenced them, or the lack of medical safeguarding. That's proof of 'TERF ideology'. And they're not allowed to suggest that their experiences are systemic, or relevant in any way to anyone but themselves. They must be isolates, outliers. Real supportive.

[–]PassionateIntensity 27 insightful - 1 fun27 insightful - 0 fun28 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

THOSE FUCKING ASSHOLES!!!!!! Leave /detrans alone. They have nowhere else to talk about it.

[–]DogeWalker 25 insightful - 1 fun25 insightful - 0 fun26 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I love Buck for speaking out on this! Having BOOMER in the display name is pretty chill too. Thanks for being an OG, Buck.

[–]worried19 22 insightful - 1 fun22 insightful - 0 fun23 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Buck Angel seems like a good person. We need famous, moderate trans people to advocate on behalf of the powerless.

[–][deleted] 20 insightful - 1 fun20 insightful - 0 fun21 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I know they put it back up, but that was just cruel. Those people must be going through some shit and really need support; especially because they can't get it from the medical or mainstream lgbtq communities.

[–]emissch 13 insightful - 1 fun13 insightful - 0 fun14 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

They are REALLY worried about losing ad revenue, damn.
