Delete your comments on Reddit before you delete your account.

Don't take my word for this, but I heard that the best policy is to actually edit your comments to remove the substance rather than to delete them, or to edit them before deleting them. Otherwise the content of your comments is still recoverable.

More to screw over Reddit. We can't access comments from banned subs. If you delete from other subs that just removes the content they depend on.

Can you explain what you mean by "the content they depend on?"

Reddit depends on having content people want to read and engage with on their subs. So even if you're in something benign like r/askreddit and you've made some good comments - take them down. People find topics you speak on in search engines. If they don't have the content from the 70k+ people they just booted from feminist subs all the better.

Why? If I never plan to go back, is there any reason to waste my time to delete my comments or account?

Because the comments remain in their database. It's just a good idea for security reasons.

They still make money off your old content.
