hmmm, some morality transcends culture. I really do not care that some cultures are okay with cannibalism, I still judge them to be deficient.

To make the implicit argument that dehumanization of women and girls shouldn't be judged in some far off land because we couldn't possibly understand how their special brand of misogyny arises... eh. no. That's just the class based version of the intention justification. On an individual level, until very recently it was usually worded like "well yes he did beat his wife to death but his intentions were good, he didn't mean to snap. and now, he'll have to live with this for the rest of his life, poor guy".

It's focusing on the supposedly well meaning intentions of the abuser instead of focusing on the damage caused to the victims.

Best comment ever. I hate that whole “you’re looking at all of this horrible misogyny and rape culture through the eyes of people who don’t think that stuff is okay, which is WRONG” weirdness extended to gross things in cultures. Anime and manga are borderline pedo so often, and misogynist almost 100% of the time. The tropes they use are even more revolting when combined with the first two. Lots of women I know have just stopped consuming any of it because it’s so hard to locate anything with adult women in it.
