Are the genitals functioning?

The well-publicized cases of high-profile males (Jazz Jennings in the USA and in the UK Jackie Greene, son of Mermaids CEO Susie Green) put on puberty blockers quite young (10, 11, 12) followed by cross-sex hormones indicate that the drugs render such males both incapable of having orgasms and without libido. So what we know so far is that in males, the use of these drugs in childhood and adolescence causes either severe sexual dysfunction no function at all.

I still dunno about the impact of blockers on the sexual functioning of females, though I'm just starting Abigail Shrier's book. But girls put on blockers for precocious puberty report a number of horrific health effects that have lasted long into adulthood.

What about SRS?

In young males put on puberty blockers early on - such as Jennings and Green - a "side effect" that none of the adult physicians and parents anticipated beforehand is that blocking puberty at the start of puberty stunts the growth of male genitalia to the point that there is not nearly enough penile and scrotal tissue for surgeons to perform traditional "SRS." As a result, surgeons have had to resort to entirely experimental procedures on these males; basically the surgeons have made up new procedures as they've go along, leading to unsatisfactory or disastrous results. You really need to watch "I Am Jazz" to see what a nightmare this is. Also, there's an infamous video online of Susie Green and her own mother laughing about blockers leaving son Jackie with such a small penis that traditional, more tested methods of "SRS" couldn't be used when he go castrated on his 16th birthday.

Again, dunno about girls put on blockers. But just like most males never get - nor intend to get - any genital surgery, most females who ID as the opposite sex also eschew genital surgeries.

Do we also know the effects on kids' psyche?

Research from the NHS's Tavistock clinic in the UK that the Tavistock powers-that-be tried to suppress shows clearly that girls put on puberty blockers experience a marked increase in thoughts/urges of self-harm and suicide.

Because blockers block brain development, they appear to rob kids of the cognitive capabilities that typically develop in adolescence that are crucial for working out their "gender dysphoria," coming up with other, healthier and more mature ways of viewing themselves than "dysphoric" teens usually exhibit, and basically coming to terms with - and feeling comfortable in - the reality of their bodies. The normal, natural maturation processes of puberty and adolescence seem to be precisely what enables young people to outgrow their GD - so blocking those processes locks them in to GD permanently.

Blockers also inevitably lead kids to to take further medical transition steps such as going on cross-sex hormones and gettin double mastectomies at a very early age. In the UK, the Tavistock says 100% of kids put on blockers go on to take cross-sex hormones. In the USA, many girls are getting their breasts surgically removed in their teens.

Also, putting kids on blockers tends to exacerbate the kids' feelings of not fitting in with their peers because it leaves them behind developmentally and socially. As they watch their friends and peers starting to grow up and get involved in dating, relationships and more adult-type endeavors, interests and conversations, they feel more alienated because they're still stuck with the bodies, cognitive abilities, psyches, sexual maturity and POV of kids many years younger than their chronological age. These kids suffer more problems not fewer adapting to the social minefields of late middle school and HS, which is why so many of them end up dropping out of IRL school and doing homeschooling or online learning only. As Jazz Jennings did.

Why is nobody talking about that?

Lots of people have been talking about these topics for a long time now. I suggest you look into such organizations as transgendertrend, 4thwavenow, genderhq, safeschoolsalliance; blogs and social media of people like lily maynard, gender critical dad and scott newgent; and the work of journalists like Madeleine Kearns, Helen Joyce and Abigail Shrier. Also, look up William Malone, MD, and the eye-opening YT interviews Benjamin Boyce has done with detransitioners, therapists and other experts in the area.

Check out Abigail Shrier's new book, she covers this issue extensively, including the history of them, "on-label" use and more. I think she's balanced about discussion of not knowing all the long term effects, because this use is fairly new, but she does cover a lot of known issues.

This is an interesting article about the medium-term side effects on the women who were given Luperon for precocious puberty: https://www.statnews.com/2017/02/02/lupron-puberty-children-health-problems/

Wow, I was on this for 4 years because of precocious puberty and this article was a really interesting read and perhaps explains some of the injuries I keep getting despite being very gentle in my workouts. :( Luckily I'm mostly healthy and do not regret taking it but it's upsetting that this information was never available to my family.

You poor thing! I hope you continue to be mostly healthy, and at least now you know what’s causing your problems.

Is there actually a danger to precocious puberty?

Why block it in the first place?

[–]jet199 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

The only physical dangers are shortness (exactly) and pregnancy if a child is raped (that has actually happened in India).

All other concerns are psychological.

So similar to giving thalidomide for morning sickness, the risks (any risk) don't out weigh the benefits for most.

before i was aware that there were any drawbacks to the drugs, i used to wish i'd had been given some as a child.

I was a B cup by the time i was ten years old, and men were already terrifying me. Following me, catcalling, sexually intimidating, etc. It was awful. To this day, i am still extremely leery around men as a result. But last year i learned that those drugs lower the IQ, affect bone density, etc, and was extremely glad nobody ever gave me any.

I'm going to interpret 'literature' as scientist slang for peer-reviewed articles. Sue Donym on Medium has done some great compilations of PubMed articles, with commentary, including:

*A Republican Billionaire Is Funding the Trans Movement and Conversion Therapy Junk Science. Here’s the Who, and the How (baaah can't get the bullet points right)

*Inauthentic Selves: The modern LGBTQ+ Movement Is Run By Philanthropic Astroturf And Based On Junk Science

It would take a while for me to hunt down and list every paper she mentions. But yeesh, I've read through a few of those PubMed articles and share the author's concerns (no control cohort in a longitudinal study---wtf!). Every intro and conclusion seems to have some variation of the phrase "more data is needed to base these decisions on empirical evidence," implying that there's not enough empirical evidence to suggest the assumed benefits of hormones or puberty blockers outweigh the severe side effects.

So, from what I'm read, no, we don't know what the effects are. There isn't even any evidence to suggest puberty blockers and hormone therapy work better to address gender dysphoria than non-drug therapies (no! control! cohort! I've seen homeopathy papers more thorough than this). But that's not a problem! It's not a problem because we assumed that treatment works, therefore it must work! If you disagree it's because you literally want GNC kids to die.

If anyone wants to chat about specific articles, hit me up. I'm happy to promote scientific literacy if you don't want to take my word for it.

Google "puberty blocker sterility" a bunch of articles popped up.

"“Puberty suppression hormones prevent the development of secondary sex characteristics, arrest bone growth, decrease bone accretion, prevent full organization and maturation of the brain, and inhibit fertility,” Hruz, Mayer, and McHugh write in a Supreme Court brief filed in the Gavin Grimm case. They go on to list other possible side effects of cross-gender hormones, oral estrogen, and testosterone, including sterility, coronary disease, cardiovascular disease, elevated blood pressure, and breast cancer." https://world.wng.org/content/doctors_puberty_blockers_are_a_dangerous_experiment (I'm an Atheist, but this is from a Christian news website).

"FTMs who transition as tweens, as many now do, will be sterilized and will not have eggs to bank. Uterus removal is recommended after several years on testosterone..." and here's a different quote from the same article "The biggest challenge is the issue of fertility. When young people halt their puberty before their bodies have developed, and then take cross-hormones for a few years, they’ll probably be infertile. You have to explain to the patients that if they go ahead, they may not be able to have children. When you’re talking to a 12-year-old, that’s a heavy-duty conversation. Does a kid that age really think about fertility? But if you don’t start treatment, they will always have trouble fitting in. And my patients always remind me that what’s most important to them is their identity." https://www.genderhq.org/trans-youth-side-effects-hormone-blockers-surgery/

As fuckingsealions (enjoyed writing your user name!) mentioned, Abigail Shrier’s new book, was just published.

Amazon and cancel culture has made it difficult for the publisher to publicize the book.

“ Late last week, Amazon.com took another step in silencing dissent on LGBT issues. Amazon banned a major conservative publishing company from purchasing ads to promote a book warning about the dangers transgender ideology poses to young women and girls.

“The cancel culture has made it clear that it despises diversity of opinion, and it will not tolerate science, data, facts, or anything that contradicts the approved narrative. If you’re not on board, you’ll have your head handed to you,” Regnery Publishing tweeted in a statement about the Amazon ban.

Amazon refused to let Regnery pay to promote the forthcoming book Irreversible Damage: The Transgender Craze Seducing Our Daughters, Fox News reported.

In the book, Wall Street Journal journalist Abigail Shrier builds on a scientific study revealing the “social contagion” of transgender identity affecting a broad swath of American teenage girls and warns that various transgender “treatments” will leave girls permanently scarred.

Among other things, it warns about chest binders (meant to hide a girl’s feminine upper-body features), which may lead to “fractured or bruised ribs, punctured or collapsed lungs, shortness of breath, back pain, and deformation of the breast tissue.” This is the least invasive kind of transgender “treatment” for teenage girls. Drugs like Lupron (meant to “block” puberty) and testosterone cause more damage, and various forms of transgender surgery are even worse.

Yet Amazon reportedly sent Regnery an email on Thursday, warning that the book “contains elements that may not be appropriate for all audiences, which may include ad copy/book content that infers or claims to diagnose, treat, or question sexual orientation. Hence, this campaign will not be allowed to be advertised.”

I just started reading it and it is extremely disturbing but necessary information.

Jesus christ fucking medical book banning because it doesn't suit the trans agenda.

Alright George Orwell this isn't funny, you can turn the simulation off now.

I have been rereading 1984.

I quoted a couple of passages of 1984 on Spinster and had someone quote some sexist passages in his other books. It irritated me that the person totally missed the point of my posting the passage.

First of all, he is a male. I can’t say that he wasn’t a product of his time, because he was. In some ways, with the denial of female happening today, of course, some things have not changed at all, perhaps it is even worse now. Biology is being denied.

Sexism has always been with us. It is particularly virulent today and after Reddit banned Gender Critical for wrong-think, it is even more relevant today.

I have quoted Orwell specifically, because in 1984, he was prescient of the nightmare future that we now have as women.

The all-powerful trans mafia that rules the world with the ideology of Ingsoc—doublethink, memory hole, unperson, thoughtcrime, Newspeak, Thought Police, Room 101, Big Brother—they are instantly recognizable signs of the nightmare future present, that women now find themselves.

“Being in a minority, even in a minority of one, did not make you mad. There was truth and there was untruth, and if you clung to the truth even against the whole world, you were not mad.” ― George Orwell, 1984

We live in a world now where only FOX NEWS will report on this medical child abuse. Ugh... talk about strange bedfellows...

Can I offer a different way of thinking about this?

If children go straight from puberty blockers to HRT, they don't go through a normal puberty. We shouldn't just be asking what the side effects of a specific drug are, we should be asking what the implications of not going through puberty are. We would need a mountain of research to answer this question, because it's so huge.

People try to talk about it and get shut down. Even people trying to do studies on it, get shut down.

Yea. Scientific transphobia accusations probably. Don't want to get canceled.

Not a doctor but I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say stunting kids growth and chemically castrating them for being masculine/feminine is probably a really bad idea.

This needs more research before we go castrating kids. Just my opinion. Not a doctor.

WARNING : WHAT FOLLOWS IS MY SPECULATION. Nothing has been proven yet, but this is for what I am watching :

Women make up the overwhelming bulk of alzheimer's patients-possibly as high as 90%. Since no one cares much about women's health matters, those few who have noticed this have just hand waved it away with women "live longer". But the difference in male and female life spans amounts to about 2 years, nowhere near enough to account for such a disparity, plus women with alzheimer's begin showing symptoms in their late 50s , while men generally don't show symptoms till they're in their 80s (plus women alzheimers patients retain their verbal dexterity better than do men patients).

Researchers are currently investigating a link between menopause (specifically the sudden decline in estrogen) and alzheimer's . Here's is an interview with one rearcher-Lisa Mosconi, who has also written a book on the subject, The XX Brain :

Medium Mosconi interview-LONG

I keep seeing speculations as to what will hopefully end the anti science reign of terror. Some think it will be transed kids killing themselves en masse or suing the doctors and foundations responsible. But if transing children results in them having an IQ a full standard deviation lower than it would otherwise have been, AND if not going through puberty keeps their brains from maturing (as puberty is also about mental and emotional maturation), then will they ever get to a place where they can truly comprehend what they lost? That plus their own susceptibility to the "sunk cost fallacy" will likely prevent transed kids from being what finally peaks the world and makes GRS/SRS (and the efforts to make sex and gender synonymous is the root of the problem) something to be spoken of in the same breath as lobotomies.

But what about transmen/TiFs?

If it is true that menopause and the sudden drop in estrogen is what makes women so much more susceptible to alzheimers than men, what happens to women who have been subjected to high dosages of testosterone and to extreme body modification surgeries to help them pass ? For girls put on puberty blockers , Lupron is said to leave ovaries "shriveled like raisins" (I've seen that phrase more than once in articles on puberty blockers and their side effects) , even though they are usually left intact just because of their role with hormones. What about transmen who were post pubertal ; they may have escaped lupron , but what are doses of testosterone great enough to cause male pattern baldness, facial hair , and voices changes doing to them internally?

If menopause /sudden drop in estrogen is what causes women to get alzheimers at so much higher a rate than men, then women who have had their ovaries "shrivelled" by puberty blockers and/or high doses of testosterone may be at elevated risk for alzheimers, possibly early onset, especially those with a genetic or environmental predisposition (there may be a genetic link , but environmental factories-especially crappy diets-may play a role too. I have seen alzheimers disease called Type III diabetes.)

A disturbingly high percentage of transmen/TiFs getting alzheimers (IF my speculations are correct), especially early onset, may be what peaks the world and gets the surgeries banned for anyone except the tiny percentage of males and females who have genuine, diagnosed dysphoria. A reset to how it was in yesterdecade, IOW.

thank you for that, very interesting. For me, just knowing that it lowers IQ is enough. No parent wants a stupid kid, especially when it's chemically induced and could have easily been avoided.
