I'm with Mariana Janeiro over there. Thems can take the term "mother" out of my cold dead hands. Not all women experience bringing a child into this world the way I did, but there was no question who were the two mothers in the room when I gave birth. There was me, my mother and then my husband looking paler than I've ever seen him since.

I seriously don't know how transmen can endure that shock of birth and still hate women so much.

Side note, why do so many transwomen have that smug face for their professional profile photos? 1 part it's camouflaging 2 parts they know they're bad actors. It's the "Dreamworks Face" of social movements.

Autogynesmile + Duper's delight.

Jane Clare Jones has some deep thoughts on the culture of mother erasure.

I love the Kate Bush mention at the bottom there. Side note, as a woman who loves some prog-rock, I am so sad that she's as close as we get to female representation in the genre, unless anyone would allow me to include Bjork.

Anyway, as if we didn't already know Reddit's consensus on women, I've noted mother erasure (or vilification) aplenty. Everyone creams their pants every time somebody reposts the dad doing his daughters hair. JustnoMIL (mother in law) exists, but not FIL. The only time you see people discuss their mother's on Reddit is if they have NPD, when an often minor parenting decision completely mutilated the poster's now-in-shambles life, or if she's dead (and all of a sudden Mother Goddamned Theresa.) It's like the plot of these people's lives are ripped from comic books.

I think there's something to be thought out around feminism's waves and schisms and the culture of mother-hatred. One thing of the many things I like about being in the rad quadrant of feminism is that we are happy to look back to the 70s and 80s and earlier for ideas and inspiration. However, libfems seem to be quite casual about dismissing the whole lot of it just on the basis that the women who created it were now old and not sexy. One of the things that made me realise this most viscerally was the language around Germaine Greer when she suddenly became the stroppiest face of gender-criticalness. Hag, bag, dried up old c*nt, senile - all from people who would otherwise police all terminology for pee-cee-ness. There are reasons they want to cut younger women off from the wisdom and experiences of older women. There are reasons they want to erode the status of mothers: we are the primary group who has a strong investement and understanding of child safeguarding.

This has been making me so angry for so long. When I was a kid, I remember my parents having a laugh at themselves and their music gods for thinking they'd rather be dead by 30. Didn't any of us listen take that to heart? And now that I'm older, I'm the target of ageism more and more. That "ok boomer" bullshit is not just kids doing what they always do every generation, it's a catchy turn of phrase taken advantage of to further separate youth from their elders.

I've said this before: on Reddit, everyone's parents are abusive demons unless they died young, in which case they were angels. Of course there's a lot of young people on there and young people like to complain about how unfair it is that the xbox got taken away. The discord caused by parents simply parenting is over-amplified on Reddit though. Your parents are evil. We understand you though! It's cultish.

I wish lib fems would wake up. You're next!

Today's parents aren't even boomers, we're Gen X and older Millennials. My parents were actual boomers.

Yeah, these libfems are heading for a shock when they pass their last fuckable day and get saddled with 100% of child- and elder-care while in a shitty job with no security. Do they think they aren't going to age?

Ah yes, the word "mother", the height of radical feminism! lmao!

They're going to start saying some BS like birther and take everyone back a couple of centuries.

This is already happening in the wokest of birth-linked organizations and in some hospitals in the UK. It's weird that inclusiveness always means to be inclusive to a small handful of people who have transitioned out of the group "women", but at the same time be very exclusive of anyone whose gender identity actually depends on the sexed body she has. The latter group is probably in the billions.

Oh geez

Many women lamented that the proposed change in language would have the effect of further marginalizing mothers from the feminist movement. “Mothers are no longer deleted enough from the feminist mov, let’s push them a little bit further into the corner!” a woman tweeted."

Yes. Feminism needs more thinking by and about mothers. Not this "inclusive" crap.

You'd think they want to advance women by gathering as many as possible. Instead they'll alienate gc women, mothers, older women, and anyone not on the left for the sake of TiMs (undisputably male).

I'd bet my last dollar an actual woman didn't tweet that.

A trans woman

[–]Finnegan7921 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

right, not an actual woman. A man larping as a woman does not count. I'm loathe to say it, but the left has turned into the bogeyman the right said it would 10-15 years ago. Thought police, gun grabbers, religion haters, socialist loving, pushing the LGBT agenda (which has become the T agenda b/c everyone else in LGB can go get fucked according to the T's b/c they run the show now) etc....it is all coming true and at this stage there is no denying it. They called it when they wondered where it would stop. Trump said a few years ago that they would come for Washington and Jefferson, and people laughed at him saying that was ludicrous. Is is that ludicrous now ? Nope. They won't be satisfied until there are men in every previously female space, b/c of some fucked up notion of "justice", and so they have nominated a senile man who will either sign everything put in front of him by a "progressive" congress or be forced out due to his dementia(he can't even take softball questions w/o copious notes). IMO, this is the biggest issue facing women today; if the left gets enough power, they will erase women to show how woke they are, and after that, there is no going back, not for a long time, b/c speaking out against consequences of the Equality Act(which will be passed on day one of a Biden /Peloisi / Schumer admin) will get you doxxed and fired for wrongthink. Think of how vindictive TRAs are now. Imagine how they'll be when the federal gov't is backing them to the hilt b/c let's face it, woke points count more than actual harm to women. MSNBC will be slobbering all over it while real, actual women will be suffering due to the trans agenda, and at least half of the federal gov't will be cheering right along b/c it is exactly what they want to ensure the votes of the brainwashed "woke" who couldn't give a shit about oppression, jut that they appear to be against it on social media.

My father, I love him, but we haven't agreed on anything political in decades. He's a misogynist, okay? But he's got some blind spot where I can't do anything wrong, and if a guy can do it, so can his little girl. Whatever, I'll take it.

He's been making the same slippery slope arguments for-fucking-ever. And here it is, it's all happening. Now we've got something to talk about. Now he's forwarding me other batshit stuff, and I'm like, hold on Papa, let's not get carried away. Like, I still accept evolution, gays, and reproductive rights y'know.

It could work both ways though, maybe? If someone has an article on how TRAs are causing global warming, maybe I can get my dad to finally admit climate change is real. Sisters, help me out.

I feel ashamed to be brazilian rn, I can't believe they are infiltrating in my country as well, I'm glad there was a backlash
