I agree with your point. Just to comment on the remark that both men and women need to eat and quick eating would be an adjustment affecting both sexes - men need more food than women, even at the same size, not to mention that men are taller than women, so it makes sense that women will consume less food in the same time frame

Not only, with similar body size - men throat is wider, men mouth often bigger, men have stronger bite power, men stomach is bigger relatively to total body size (and in general most organs have different proportions to body), men are producing much more stomach acid, and in general on average women digest food at 30-50% slower rate than men, and so on.
