I was a "Bernie Bros," (I'm a woman). I'm far-left economically, but socially more centrist. I shy away from identity politics because it detracts from solidarity. If the fundamental inequalities inherent in capitalism were addressed, many issues would drastically improve. That said, I do see the hazard in complacency around race, sex and able-ism. I can't align myself with the woketivist, cancel-culture left.

I was also a Bernie supporter.

Agree with this so much. So many people on the left would would rather “cancel” someone than do actual work towards dismantling oppressive social structures.

i supported bernie and felt so betrayed by the dnc ESPECIALLY when bernie backed clinton. i wanted to shrivel up and die.

if we could just stop outsourcing everything and find a way to make living here affordable so many other issues could be solved. if we werent scared of one another and fighting to barely make ends meet we wouldnt have so much violence and infighting. though more and more now i think this is by design by some high level people who thrive off the common mans suffering.

Me too, though I'm more of a libertarian or centrist. Either him or Yang. That list included Warren until she started not just saying that TWAW (her opinion, but okay) but also that a trans person would have final say over her choice of VP. That along with her Native American claim which was not good but not run ending if it was the only issue. No thanks. I wanted someone who would address the way our country's politicians have bowed down to corporations and special interests and who wanted to rebuild our middle class, but the status quo has won again. I feel like the only two loudest voices are the loony (far) left and the loony (far) right.

I think you get all sorts being gender-critical.

I would love to see a poll based on where everyone is on the political spectrum!

I don't align either way. I used to be left till I started noticing them ignoring issues that didn't politically help them/didn't make the right look awful. Now I'm neutral. I don't trust either side, every politician just wants power and the next term and they'll do whatever it takes to make that happen. Anyway both sides don't care about women so what's the point having a side.

Gender critical views are part of radical feminism, so they're inherently leftist.

Originally by definition—yes.

But if the world has shifted and radfems are the ones now saying hold on, we're still here and women are still women, that's a seemingly conservative opinion these days, in relative terms.

Really I don't know what these terms mean anymore when nobody can even agree on objective reality. I say that's a man, and I think how could anyone disagree but there we are.

Trans ideology may be couched in progressive terms but its just repackaged misogyny. I think the only reason we are seeing all these non binary Identities, being added to the trans umbrella, is to disguise the inherently regressive binary gender ideology that is the backbone of Trans ideology. With feminism, non binary Identities are redundant, because you are encouraged to enact gender as you choose anyway.

Oh and when it comes to politics I'm on the left. I just wish we could move beyond identity politics and actually focus on improving living standards. I swear the main reason western political parties encoursge identity politics is to keep us from realising, that there is little difference between them. They both back big business and work for their donors.

Lifelong independent. Tendency toward old-school liberal on social issues, which I'm guessing is somewhere between "centrist mechanarwhal" and "fascist cybervelociraptor" on the Wokescale.

I have whiplash right now. Can't answer.

I'm a leftist, Berniecrat like some of the others. I also am not down with cancel culture and only believe in non-violent civil disobedience but I'm a supporter of Black Lives Matter, immigrant rights, LGB rights and trans rights to the extent that they don't infringe on other groups' rights or result in harm to minors or the silencing of sound medical and scientific research. Feminism has always been important to me, but I think I fell asleep on defending it for a while.

Neither. I don't believe in ideologies, people twist them to whatever is to their advantage, the same way they do religion. They don't really even believe all of the BS they spew, it's more about belonging to the "winning team". As a non-American, both sides seem to have gone off the rails a long time ago.

Left, but politically homeless. I don't feel represented by any current parties or politicians.

I'm far left. Can't really say I was a 'bernie bro' considering I'm not even American, but I agree on the majority of his stances. Emma Goldman and Andrea Dworkin are both heroes of mine. I don't even like your average conservative transphobe.

I just value women and the safety of women more then men, especially ones that force women to participate in their sissification fetish lest they be known as a TERF.

Left of center. Increasingly hating the American extremist approach to politics. I think gender critical subs need to decide whether their focus is truly gender critical or trans critical, and whether they want to be radfem-focused or anti-TRA focused.

[–]vitunrotta 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Very far left economically. Anti-capitalist is the word to use. I used to think of myself as a liberal but alas... The recent idiocies within the liberal movement have made me consider. I guess that means I'm still just as left as I used to, but politically homeless.

The funny thing is that I know a lot of ultra conservative Christians (who are also pretty much capitalists and tend to have right wing attitudes) - and these people, with whom I have practically nothing in common, would also be totally GC. It's important to note though, that the REASONS they would be GC would be drastically different. Nothing to do with feminism. They'd see transpeople as sexual deviants exactly as they see LGB people. I suppose the general GC movement is driven by radical feminists and LGB, so these conservative GC people wouldn't join the fight. And they also seem to be uninterested in the reasons we're fighting gender ideology for. They'd just want one more group to condemn in order to feel morally superior.

So while in my opinion there's a good chance that GC people likely have very varied backgrounds and political leanings, the majority GC movement is inherently feminist and therefore leftie.
