Similar to the push to use "partner" when talking about straight women who have been domestically abused. People are entitled to call their boyfriend or husband a partner but when creating a PSA it is important we note a persons sex as it factors into what is happening to them. Using the word partner is a way of erasing male violence in many situations. Like what is the point of a campaign getting women to have their "partner" do his fair share of chores. Clearly we are communicating a gendered issue. Lesbians and straight women need separate PSAs.
