"No one is saying trans-identified individuals should not have rights (civil protections such as housing, employment, etc.) but what IS wrong is that transactivists are erasing females as a protected sex class and erasing the sex-based protections of women and girls. Read this list - and wonder. And then, get angry. Here is the list prepared by Gallus Mag, a blogger and writer in the women's community

Removing the legal right of women to organize politically against sex-based oppression by males

Removing the legal right of women to assemble outside of the presence of men

Removing the legal right of women to educational programs created for women outside the presence of men

Eliminating data collection of sex based inequalities in areas where females are underrepresented

Elimination of sex-based crime statistics

Eliminating athletic programs and sports competition for women and girls

Removing the legal right of women to be free from the presence of men in areas of public accomodation where nudity occurs

Elimination of grants, scholarships, board and trustee designations, representative positions, and affirmative programs for women

Removing the legal right of women to create reproductive clinics, rape crisis services, support groups, or any organizations for females

Eliminating media and all public discourse specific to females

Removal of the right of journalists to report the sex, and history, of subjects

Eliminating the legal right of lesbians to congregate publicly

Elimination of lesbian specific organizations and advocacy groups

Removing the legal right of women to free speech related to sex roles and gender

And the thing is... they are not women. They are trans women. The denial of biological reality just grinds my gears.

I think the silencing of radfem women is opening the pandoras box to allowing porn culture and pedophilia to flourish.

So true. I need to write to my MP about where he stands on trans rights (though he's the wokiest of the woke, so I'm almost not sure it's worth the effort.) That list would be a good starting point.

The fundamental block is that accepting this requires you to view transwomen as men, and nobody "kind" wants to do that. It's the place where radfems and TRAs cannot find common ground.

But common ground is the only way forward. What to do??

We can see transwomen and transmen as transgender, a separate category to respect they no longer wish to be called "men" or "women" and also respect the reality that their interests and their biological realities are different to those of men and women. Transwomen remain male, just as eunuchs throughout history are still male. Identifying is not an action that makes them female or a woman if woman means adult human female. Their wish to prioritize gender expression and id over sex does not negate the reality that women are women because of their sex and experience sex-based oppression. Otherwise, women could just id as men and we'd have equality.

Kindness is not setting yourself on fire to keep others warm.
