This excellent! Thank you. Reading the reason why marital rape "couldn't" be prosecuted is jaw dropping. Legally, since under UK & common law, once married the wife is seen as part of the husband, she couldn't be raped cuz how can one rape oneself. Alternately as the husband was legally responsible financially, sex was therefore a right. The ripples from this legal fiction are everywhere & devistating. "I bought you dinner..." Jesus, it's a wonder that men who murder their wives are procecuted at all & goes some way to explain why the penalty for women who, in self defense, kill their husbands, are punished so severely. I wonder if under common law we're still not explicitly a person.
