See, if a man wants to dress in a way that is not typical for men (a dress, skirt, or whatever), but the clothing is still public-appropriate, as long as he still acknowledges that he is a man, I don’t have any problem with it. Being gender noncomforming is harmless to others and people shouldn’t be shamed or bullied for being different. Gender roles are stupid anyway. It’s when a person starts denying biology that there’s an issue. Your friend sounds like he started out this way and I wouldn’t have any issue with that either, including if he came to work presenting as more “feminine.” As you pointed out, acknowledging that he still needs male healthcare would be better for HIM also.

I wonder if people in general just felt more free to be gender noncomforming if it would help get rid of most of this huge conflict.

It seems that many TIMs are just non-“masculine”-presenting men who have been “radicalized” by the aggressively misogynistic TRAs after years of feeling ostracized (not to make any excuses here, but you’re right about the rapid change and it’s definitely worth examining further what’s causing this). The autogynophiles, fetishist “transbians”, misogynistic “transcels” and sociopath/narcissist TRAs, who are very different from just being gender noncomforming, seem to be ones leading the way with the violent language against “terfs”, lesbians, and women in general and pushing the anti-science garbage that the mainstream is now gobbling up. They know that the vast majority of violent crimes committed against TIMs are perpetrated by men, but they don’t go after men. They go after JK Rowling.
