SaidIt was created by users magnora7 and d3rr, who I believe are both male, after being frustrated with reddit and then also the potential alternative voat. It was originally called "anti-extremes," and the site has a goal of not "becoming reddit" or "becoming voat". The rules (in the ToS at the bottom of the site) seem to be enforced a bit subjectively. People and a few subs have been banned in the past. That said, the admins/creators seem to be very generous: they also maintain the list of alternatives at /r/redditalternatives (and /s/saiditalternatives) and the saidit code is all available to anyone who wants to set up a clone. They've actively worked to collaborate with other reddit alternatives to mutual benefit.

I would be surprised if GC is banned very soon, but I also don't think this is a secure place to build long-term. I think a few women here said there's something in the works to set up a women-made, women-owned alternative.
