I was so shocked when r/gendercritical went down. I was doing my usual morning browse and then bam, reddit took away our "hate" sub while leaving misogynist porn subs up. What the fuck. I hope we can rebuild what we lost!

[–]radfemanon[S] 54 insightful - 4 fun54 insightful - 3 fun55 insightful - 4 fun -  (4 children)

Of course we can! It sucks but we always knew eventually they would try to silence us. It just so happens to be that day!

We will have our spaces back because we are willing to fight for them!

[–]Konradosho 51 insightful - 3 fun51 insightful - 2 fun52 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

Same here. I was on GC for like 2 1/2 years and never once did I ever see someone write about committing acts of violence against TIMs. Completely ridiculous and I’m genuinely upset about this censorship. Goodbye reddit!

[–]Redditefugee 30 insightful - 2 fun30 insightful - 1 fun31 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Same here. I mean... what the actual fuck? Reddit may be a private corporation, and its only goal may be to rake in as much money as possible, but this goes way beyond that. GC can't have been costing them a penny.

Anyway, is saidit known to be less repressive and censurious? Or are we going to be repeating the reddit experience in a week or a month?

[–]sugar_gliderx 13 insightful - 2 fun13 insightful - 1 fun14 insightful - 2 fun -  (3 children)

I'd never been shadowbanned before. That was a weird experience. And then I realized just how ANGRY it made me, and what a blatant violation of free speech the ban was. It's becoming increasingly popular to ban "truth" in the name of reducing "hate speech." It's finally hitting home that there is still a continuous uphill battle we will all be facing, but I think this sudden ban helped push me over the edge. I'm now at the point where I'm fine with losing friends over this. I have plenty. People have to see how damaging kowtowing to the trans cult is for society and women's rights.

[–]Amareldys 106 insightful - 7 fun106 insightful - 6 fun107 insightful - 7 fun -  (8 children)

Guys, this is exciting. This happened because we are -winning-. 65k members, one of the richest and most respected women in the world supporting us... England, the leader of this nonsense starting to roll back...

[–]radfemanon[S] 63 insightful - 5 fun63 insightful - 4 fun64 insightful - 5 fun -  (4 children)

Damn right. They banned us because they know we are growing.

It won't stop us. It'll only make us stronger.

[–]NecessaryScene1 79 insightful - 4 fun79 insightful - 3 fun80 insightful - 4 fun -  (3 children)

They had to kill it because it was taking off after JKR: https://subredditstats.com/r/GenderCritical

[–]slushpilot 16 insightful - 1 fun16 insightful - 0 fun17 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

That chart is going to tell an important story once the "cliff" gets added to the end in the next few days.

[–]Veneficca 33 insightful - 7 fun33 insightful - 6 fun34 insightful - 7 fun -  (0 children)

Exactly. We're getting too powerful and people are waking up. Run scared, little tyrants.

[–]heidischallenge 56 insightful - 3 fun56 insightful - 2 fun57 insightful - 3 fun -  (30 children)

hi folks! The mods of the old place are looking at alternatives. We have put a statement on twitter. There's this article https://4w.pub/reddit-bans-feminist-sub-r-gendercritical/

[–]radfemanon[S] 20 insightful - 1 fun20 insightful - 0 fun21 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Excellent thanks! We have saved the sub name and also PinkPillFeminism from being high jacked, that was our intention to get in fast!

[–][deleted] 15 insightful - 1 fun15 insightful - 0 fun16 insightful - 1 fun -  (27 children)

This site will work fine for your purposes - unless you feel the need to crush dissenting opinions and create a new echo chamber in your own image. It's established, and has survived massive waves of reddit migrations and DDOS attacks.

[–]radfemanon[S] 37 insightful - 1 fun37 insightful - 0 fun38 insightful - 1 fun -  (26 children)

We have always kept on topic and discuss feminist topics, specifically gender ideology although we do discuss other radical feminist topics.

We don't have many spaces where we can talk amongst ourselves without being bombarded with questions designed to derail our discussions.

If I see something that I think is doing that I will remove it.

We are regrouping right now as the ban came very suddenly so we will need to make stickies and sidebar information to clarify what we seek from this space.

Until then we are settling in. Gender Critical is not an echo chamber, we debate and discuss amongst ourselves but we have key ideas that we all share and are unable to share elsewhere.

[–][deleted] 12 insightful - 2 fun12 insightful - 1 fun13 insightful - 2 fun -  (25 children)

I understand your position. This whole site however seems set up so that someone like me can engage someone like you in civil debate. People like me may challenge the foundations upon which your ideology rests, not out of malice - but because we feel it's harmful. This could very well end up "derailing" a discussion or mutating it into a different one altogether, but that's the nature of debate. You can always ignore such people and carry on as if they aren't there. It's your right - censoring though is running against the grain of the existent culture.

Gender Critical is not an echo chamber, we debate and discuss amongst ourselves but we have key ideas that we all share and are unable to share elsewhere.

A place that's restricts conversation to only people who agree on shared principles, is by definition an echo chamber. I probably disagree with you folks on all core principles, yet there are plenty of extensions of those principles that would cause us to be on the same side in specific instances.

/u/magnora7 - What's your take on the stated objectives? To date I haven't seen any significant sub-level censorship here outside of spam. Would banning interlopers to keep discussion within editorialized boundaries be concordant with Saidit principles, or not?

[–]radfemanon[S] 20 insightful - 1 fun20 insightful - 0 fun21 insightful - 1 fun -  (19 children)

So far I have only removed comments with slurs in. I don't intend to alienate the site at large, which is why when we are able to we want to get the debate subs up and running.

Currently that's my only specific request in terms of conduct here - to avoid slurs, 65000 female users over on Reddit have now been made homeless and will likely trickle into this sub over the coming week.

I would only consider banning anyone from this space who are using slurs currently.

People are welcome to engage you in debate if they want to, it's just that they may not want to given the current circumstances.

[–]fuckCNN123 8 insightful - 2 fun8 insightful - 1 fun9 insightful - 2 fun -  (3 children)

I'm not recommending this necessarily but the most popular sub here is actually hidden from the frontpage unless you're subscribed. We're toxic and incapable of meaningful debate, so by excluding outsiders from the frontpage no one really comes around to hold us to it. Maybe that would be a good delineation between GC and whatever debate sub(s) you create - one serving as a more personal space and another involving the site's community at large. Maybe that's a terrible idea too, I'm just throwing out there.

All the same welcome to saidit and I hope you all stick around, it's great to see more intellectual diversity here.

[–]radfemanon[S] 18 insightful - 3 fun18 insightful - 2 fun19 insightful - 3 fun -  (2 children)

Thank you, I think separating GC and a GC debate sub is the best way forward. It means that those that want to debate have a space to do so but we will also have a space to discuss amongst ourselves. I would heartily encourage GC users here to engage with civil discourse until we can get the full range of subs set up.

I have specified some conduct around the use of slurs and I don't intend to start banning anyone, although I will remove comments with slurs in them.

[–][deleted] 8 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 0 fun9 insightful - 1 fun -  (11 children)

I look forward to the debate subs - I'm not about to interject myself in things just to be an ass. I have more decorum than that.

[–]radfemanon[S] 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (9 children)

Awesome, that's good to know.

When we get them up and running we will add them to our sidebar as sister subs.

[–]deepfriednuggets 8 insightful - 2 fun8 insightful - 1 fun9 insightful - 2 fun -  (8 children)

Just asking, would y'all be open to running another GC sub that isn't just for women only? As a guy I want to discuss all these issues too, but I feel like I'm intruding esp. after seeing comments on GC Reddit previously pretty much telling dudes to screw off from GC and find their own space.

[–]radfemanon[S] 9 insightful - 2 fun9 insightful - 1 fun10 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Yes! We are limited in the subs we can replace at this time - we have all been made homeless so we are going to have to muddle through together for now.

If you are able to, you can make the sub yourself, if not it will be a sub I will get to once I am able to.

I am not going to ban anyone unless they are consistently using slurs or doxxing. We are settling in to the new site and will keep an eye on it.

[–]WrongToy 13 insightful - 2 fun13 insightful - 1 fun14 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

R/gc was not designed as a debate sub. That's what you're missing. As to the evolution of this sub, it'll depend beyond one day.

[–]UnderHisEye 50 insightful - 3 fun50 insightful - 2 fun51 insightful - 3 fun -  (2 children)

All those rape/porn/barely-masked-pedophilia subs are not banned.

Do they really think GC is a hate sub? UGH!

Also disgusted by TwoXChromosomes for cheering that GC was taken down when the same misogynists that mass reported GC are howling for TwoX to be banned for hating men next. Typical LibFems hopping on any "woke" cancel wagon even if the next stop is their house.

[–]Classconsciousness 10 insightful - 1 fun10 insightful - 0 fun11 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I'll admit at one point in my life I was on some misguided crusade against reddit myself. I'm older now and been involved in the left too long to not see how useless this is as a value. Only people who are wrong dont want people to see opposing views

[–]callmeradfem 48 insightful - 2 fun48 insightful - 1 fun49 insightful - 2 fun -  (9 children)

Of course trp, pussypassdenied, rapekink and all those other woman-hating subs get a pass. Fuck reddit.

[–]radfemanon[S] 28 insightful - 4 fun28 insightful - 3 fun29 insightful - 4 fun -  (0 children)

If its to do with mens feefees or peepees then it must be protected at all costs! So sayeth Reddit!

[–]sltkr 10 insightful - 2 fun10 insightful - 1 fun11 insightful - 2 fun -  (2 children)

Give it time. They didn't ban /r/itsafetish either, even though it's arguably worse than /r/gendercritical. Never attribute to malice what can be explained by incompetence.

edit: /r/itsafetish has been banned.

[–]TheFemMyst 13 insightful - 1 fun13 insightful - 0 fun14 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

this never happens just went down. I saved a few hundred news stories of the worst offenders and emailed them to myself. I plan to use them. Not here though.

[–]AbrasiveLace 42 insightful - 2 fun42 insightful - 1 fun43 insightful - 2 fun -  (2 children)

I was shocked when I saw r/Gendercritical was banned. When I heard about the upcoming mass bannings I thought for sure they might ban r/Itsafetish or r/TrollGC (which I see they did ban), but never did I actually think they would ban gendercritical. The GC mods were outstanding at keeping things well withing reddits rules and nothing that could be considered actual transphobia was ever posted. It's utter bullshit and just goes to show you how much Reddit, and the internet as a whole, hates women.

Thanks for carving a place for us out here. I mostly lurked over there, and will probably do the same here, but there's few other places to find actual women centered news and information and I genuinely appreciate it.

[–]sosorreal 41 insightful - 2 fun41 insightful - 1 fun42 insightful - 2 fun -  (23 children)

I honestly feel sick to my stomach. I called to tell my mom, but there isn't really anyone else I can talk to. I live in a liberal town. Even my boyfriend argues with me that transwomen are women. He's not talking to me now that r/GenderCritical has been banned. I feel like I've been gutted. I just got Gyn/Ecology in the mail this weekend. I've grown very passionate about women's issues, and GenderCritical was my safe space. I feel... just absolutely awful and alone.

[–]radfemanon[S] 24 insightful - 4 fun24 insightful - 3 fun25 insightful - 4 fun -  (15 children)

Don't worry, we will rebuild. We won't stop fighting! We are in this together!

[–]sosorreal 14 insightful - 1 fun14 insightful - 0 fun15 insightful - 1 fun -  (14 children)

thank you, I needed to hear this. I can't believe how awful I feel. I'm glad that we are reorganizing, but fuck this sucks. It's scary that censorship is actively happening.

[–]radfemanon[S] 12 insightful - 1 fun12 insightful - 0 fun13 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

It sucks and its going to be a crazy time for a while but we can do it together.

Its high time some common sense came back!

[–]LieLiver 39 insightful - 2 fun39 insightful - 1 fun40 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

I had JUST found the courage to join the gender critical reddit two days ago... was planning on finally telling my story. I found so much renewed hope and strength in reading everyone else's stories and seeing that I wasn't so alone. The BAM it all went down but this isn't the end... and it's really just showing a lot of transparency. Censorship is what that movement is really about so I refuse to stay silent.

[–]radfemanon[S] 14 insightful - 2 fun14 insightful - 1 fun15 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Welcome! They can't stop us, they can't silence us, we are strong and united!

[–]QueenRowana 37 insightful - 4 fun37 insightful - 3 fun38 insightful - 4 fun -  (5 children)

yayy I'm glad to be here. I have no clue how saidit works but i hope i can figure it out.

Venting time: Fuck Spez and his admin cronies!

I had a tiny sub on reddit making fun of people (mainly trans ""women"" and a few enbies) throwing hissy fits over being misgendered. Maybe 6 subscribers, I was the only real poster. All I did was screenshot their tantrums about being misgendered, i even censored their usernames and then i posted it. It wasnt even that active. I checked today after the banwave and no surprise it was gone. I didnt even get notified. I did not get a notification in advance that my sub was in danger. Not even a threatening not from the admins about "clean up your sub or else...", nothing. Not a hint that they were thinking of banning it. Now it's banned and I, as the creator and only mod of the sub, didn't even get a message that it was banned. I had to scroll all the way back in my account to even find the sub and when i clicked it it jsut said "banned for rule 1" with no other info, not even a ban date (for all I know it was banned a week ago, i dont check the sub that often).

Sorry, vent over. I'm just pissed. Women are losing their right to speak their mind. How long will it be before the men of this world we should go back to women not having a vote too?

fuck reddit!

[–][deleted] 28 insightful - 2 fun28 insightful - 1 fun29 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

Many thanks for jumping on this and helping to preserve our space for honest discourse. 🌟💛🌟

[–]radfemanon[S] 19 insightful - 1 fun19 insightful - 0 fun20 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Well, there was a few subs removed so we're trying to get all of them before bad faith actors run in and take the names so I'm sorry if we can't bulk out this sub as quickly as we would like!

[–]bekkilyn 28 insightful - 1 fun28 insightful - 0 fun29 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

I just got perma-banned from a Reddit group I've never once posted in for being a "TERF". Ironically, the group calls itself "WitchesVsPatriarchy" (I have very broad interests in spirituality and religion), so being curious, I looked at their rules and here is their definition of Patriarchy: "Any post or comment displaying signs of toxic masculinity, homophobia, transphobia, racism, classism, ableism, or otherwise enforcing the Patriarchy, will be removed and users may be banned."

Wow, nothing about SEXISM anywhere.

Very telling.

Edit: Oh and I sent them this reply! (Though I don't expect anything to come of it)

How ironic that your sub is "versus" Patriarchy and yet you went out of your way to ban biological women opposed to Patriarchy, women who have been fighting for the rights that we women have enjoyed for decades now (and are being eroded), banning and attempting to silence women in favor of those who have every interest in keeping the Patriarchy firmly in place, regardless of whether they are currently in pants or a skirt. Men are privileged because of their biology, not because they've "identified into" it. If you think trans men have all the privileges of biological men, best think again. And biological men don't lose those privileges no matter how many hormones they take or operations they undergo. The fact that you've banned someone who has been a feminist fighting the Patriarchy now for over 50 years is very revealing. No "TERFs" indeed! You may as well have allied yourself with the Patriarchy.

[–]theysaidthat 27 insightful - 2 fun27 insightful - 1 fun28 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Transwomen are human. Transwomen deserve respect and compassion. Transwomen deserve protection from male violence and predation. But transwomen aren't actually women. How is that a hateful belief to hold?

Reddit's removal of the sub has really got me down. It had grown so much recently! But now I feel like the entire world hates us. At least there's y'all.

[–][deleted] 26 insightful - 2 fun26 insightful - 1 fun27 insightful - 2 fun -  (6 children)

I'm here. If this falls or not enough people join, I may migrate to mumsnet. I was incensed when TRAs silenced women out in the real world and online, now I'm incensed a thousandfold from Reddit equating women advocating for their sex-based protections peacefully to violent, anti-women, pornographic, or white power subreddits. The mods there never allowed name-calling, but I guess when female existence and insubordination triggers people everything is hate speech. Can't believe that this is the world we're living in now where grannies can get punched for saying women are female and people cheer.

[–]radfemanon[S] 12 insightful - 1 fun12 insightful - 0 fun13 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

We're going to do our best to bring this space up to speed!

[–]JustAMom 24 insightful - 2 fun24 insightful - 1 fun25 insightful - 2 fun -  (2 children)

Gender Critical refugee here. Thank you for starting this sub.

[–]radfemanon[S] 9 insightful - 1 fun9 insightful - 0 fun10 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

No problem. Hopefully we can get back to business as usual quickly!

[–]TrollToadette 24 insightful - 1 fun24 insightful - 0 fun25 insightful - 1 fun -  (6 children)

Infuriated the sub was banned like that. No warnings, no quarantine, just gone. Reddit has some nerve.

Seems to me the term "TERF" qualifies as hate speech under reddit's new content policy. Terfs, radfems, and women in general are all "vulnerable" groups and "identities". Everytime I see a sub or a user use "TERF" in a negative context I am going to use their new report option. For anyone who wants to know how:

  • click "report" on a comment or post
  • choose "this is abusive or harassing"
  • then choose "It's promoting hate based on identity or vulnerability"

Sick of this shit. Apparently its too much to want a place to talk to other women. And the media focus will be on t_d or chapo and the fact that 50% of the population was just deemed hateful by reddit will be ignored. Thanks mods for doing what you can to keep a space for us <3

[–]radfemanon[S] 16 insightful - 2 fun16 insightful - 1 fun17 insightful - 2 fun -  (3 children)

No problem. Unfortunately I get the feeling that the T*RF slur is an acceptable slur on Reddit.

Well, not here!

[–]TrollToadette 12 insightful - 1 fun12 insightful - 0 fun13 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Its accepted because not enough people are fighting against it. Enough people made a stink in againsthatesubreddits about GC and reddit responded by banning the sub. Have to use the same tactics. Report every damn thing we see that is offensive towards women. Make a stink. Keep doing it until we're impossible to ignore.

[–]radfemanon[S] 13 insightful - 1 fun13 insightful - 0 fun14 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Unfortunately, we were reporting it, we were just getting ignored as is the usual.

[–]iguanidae 20 insightful - 1 fun20 insightful - 0 fun21 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

Happy to be here. Rumor has it that LGBDroptheT will be banned this week. I found that sub to be a good resource for LGB history so I hope they re-open here.

[–]gparmesan 11 insightful - 1 fun11 insightful - 0 fun12 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I am also an LGBDropTheT user, hope their backup sub opens soon!

[–]lyth 20 insightful - 1 fun20 insightful - 0 fun21 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

I can't believe r/gendercritical was banned. I was so shocked when I looked at the list of subreddits banned and r/gendercritical was one of them. It was such a great community of strong, level-headed women and I really liked being part of it. Now all the work that has been put in it has been lost. I'm leaving Reddit and I joined Saidit just in order to keep up with gendercritical.

[–]radfemanon[S] 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

RE: banning of our reddit sub, it really doesn't feel overly dramatic to start shouting Mayday! Mayday!

[–]radfemanon[S] 22 insightful - 1 fun22 insightful - 0 fun23 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

100%.

We should all be very alarmed by what's happened today!

[–]anodunos 19 insightful - 1 fun19 insightful - 0 fun20 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

I've been so angry today. It's no surprise this came just as radical feminism was gaining coverage in the media, and more and more people were waking up. They try to silence us because our voices are strong, and are starting to be heard.

We will not comply. We will not submit. We will not be silenced.

[–]radfemanon[S] 17 insightful - 1 fun17 insightful - 0 fun18 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

They haven't heard of the Streisand effect have they

[–]anodunos 11 insightful - 1 fun11 insightful - 0 fun12 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Obviously not. This just proves our point - we're getting silenced by a freaking cult.

[–]radfemanon[S] 13 insightful - 1 fun13 insightful - 0 fun14 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

This is why more women peak every day. Obvious actions like this will only drive more women to our cause.

[–]Lilith_Fair 19 insightful - 1 fun19 insightful - 0 fun20 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

I know a lot of you are very upset. But honestly, I feel kind of relieved. Reddit has become such an awful place. I only visit there to lurk in GC anyway, and every time I go there (Reddit), I feel like I need to take a shower when I get out. I was actually one of the first people to discover Reddit when it started. (We're talking several lifetimes ago in internet time.) It was such an innocent fun place back then. Lot of people sharing quirky interests. Then I left for about 7, 8 years because life got busy. I only returned about a year ago searching for some of my old interests. Sadly, I discovered the place is nothing like what I remembered. Like all things web, it's become a large platform for Incel men to congratulate each other for being masters of the universe. The front page is so full of misogynistic shit posts every day, and Woke bros jerking each other off, I literally feel sick seeing what trends. Then I stumbled upon GC and it was the only thing that kept me visiting every so often. So in a way, I'm really glad to never have to go there anymore.

Hopefully, all the others who had the rug pulled out from under them will find their way here soon.

[–]No_ 17 insightful - 4 fun17 insightful - 3 fun18 insightful - 4 fun -  (1 child)

Honestly they probably hired a TIM who got upset.

[–]writerlylesbian 18 insightful - 1 fun18 insightful - 0 fun19 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

funny how transwomen are the most oppressed minority ever but have no trouble mass banning feminists from talking on the internet.

[–]LasGusanas 17 insightful - 2 fun17 insightful - 1 fun18 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Latina radfem here, I hope we can regroup, the subreddit was an invaluable resource for women. Stay strong sisters

[–]justasking918273 16 insightful - 1 fun16 insightful - 0 fun17 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

They banned stuff without even looking at it...r/gendercriticalgerman got banned even though it was mostly anti-prostitution and the posts were mostly links to regular news pages...but, yeah, gotta ban all of those evil, evil women's subs where all those awful female humans post...

[–]sunnysombrero 14 insightful - 1 fun14 insightful - 0 fun15 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Thankyou! Was shocked when I saw the GC sub was banned (for promoting hate of all things!), esp when so many misogynistic subs have been left alone. Had only been lurking and subscribed for a couple of months, but it provided so many insights and information that I hadn't seen elsewhere, and gave me the confidence to start speaking out (carefully and respectfully) in real life. Really happy to see the sub reborn so quickly. Long live GC!

Seriously I’m so done being silent. I peaked a long time ago but now I’ve gone supernova. This weekend, I swear... First the crap Bailey had to, still is, dealing with with Crowdjustice now Reddit going full on 1984, just so done sitting in my corner playing nice.

Hey, sisters. Ain't this a bunch of bullshit.

[–]Laila 13 insightful - 1 fun13 insightful - 0 fun14 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Ahh It's such a sad day. Rumour is they banned pro-Palestine stuff too, though I'm not sure what.

I love how reddit silences this kind of thing, but not incels, racists, misogynists, etc. It'd be brilliant if the good discussion subs go somewhere else

[–]femalefinch 13 insightful - 1 fun13 insightful - 0 fun14 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I’m so angry about GC being deleted. I said this on reddit, but it’s absolutely baffling how a peaceful feminist sub gets banned with no warning, while hundreds of violent misogynist porn subs are allowed to stay. It just proves that the admins hate women. Fuck reddit and fuck men.

[–]feminist 12 insightful - 1 fun12 insightful - 0 fun13 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

I am so happy that you and gparmesan set this up. I never posted on the GC sub. But I had been a subscriber and an avid reader and lurker for the past 3 or 4 years. Though I never talked to any of you, you ladies made me feel sane and welcome. There aren't enough words to describe how much you all have taught me and how much solidarity I felt with people I had never met. Though we lost our original sub, I am really hopeful that this can be our new home. I know nothing about saidit, but I hope they're not as easily swayed in the way that reddit was.

[–]levoyageur718293 12 insightful - 1 fun12 insightful - 0 fun13 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

What a disgusting act on Reddit's part. I'm glad to see that the torch will not go out.

[–]SharpTomorrow 12 insightful - 1 fun12 insightful - 0 fun13 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

My last message on r/gc was on the sticky thread the day before eviction, warning the mods of the current election year environment and "moral panic".

Moving to saidit.net can only be a temporary solution. GC needs its own platform in order to stop being passive and start being actual activists because it's clear now that the left "hates" GC. GC need to stop swearing allegance to the left (which doesn't mean GC has to start being right wing of course, feminism is essentially a marxist movement).

But GC cannot stay silent anymore. If it means resorting to the same "dirty tactics" as TRA to win, so be it, because the other side clearly won't hold up.

Another matter is archiving old content and discussion, this is really important because there was significant discussions in the old sub and useful links. Do mods here plan to get back all that content in any way?

I had been lurking on the GC sub since the Yaniv shenanigans last year. Completely shocked to see the sudden ban. I see the gc mods on twitter are recommending spinster, but I liked the whole not needing an account to see what you women had to say. It's certainly opened my eyes to this nightmarish situation.

Anyway, I've definitely peaked, now.

We are winning. Have said elsewhere, they may as well try herding cats than stop strong, REAL women from talking, sharing ideas and being proactive. We are resourceful, we are brilliant, we are in the right and we are women. My god don’t the crybullies in frightwigs hate us for it!

[–]whateverneverpine 10 insightful - 2 fun10 insightful - 1 fun11 insightful - 2 fun -  (2 children)

We will NEVER stop, we will NEVER SHUT UP! EVER!

[–]LeyMio 10 insightful - 1 fun10 insightful - 0 fun11 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Reddit never felt like a safe place for women. Honestly I was expecting this to happen some day. Looking at the bright side, the Reddit bangate forced feminists to regroup and find an independent space for ourselves. We no longer have to live under oppression of the Reddit's misogynistic double standards.

you can thank a user on reddit by the name of bardfinn for getting gender critical women banned

[–]yishengqingwa666 8 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 0 fun9 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I preemptively blocked that greaseball a long time ago. What a human tumor he is.

[–]Hst_T 8 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 0 fun9 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I'm still trying to figure out how Spinster works... ugh. But glad to see that I'm not alone in my irritation with r/gendercritical being banned. How did GC end up being clumped along with Nazis and "The Donald"???

[–]sherryberry 8 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 0 fun9 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I am absolutely crushed that #GenderCritical is gone. It was the place where I finally felt validation that my feelings weren't crazy. I loved reading through the subreddit daily to hear about all of the interesting thoughts and ideas of fellow women. I never posted for fear of getting banned on other subreddits, but I am tired of being quiet and glad I found this site!

[–]pitabites 8 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 0 fun9 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I was aware of the issues with reddit being anti woman but naively i believed gender critical and similar subs were tiny corners of peace that would be left alone, i see i was so wrong. I am glad i found a way back to you and to keep learning here.

Reddit left me all my "karma points" but killed all my gc posts. So this is what silencing feels like: denial and emptiness. The post on the "peak" thread was a milestone in my life. It's gone.

I was just thinking while hanging up laundry about how I'm a long-time member of a Christian forum that leans evangelical conservative, and I'm always arguing on behalf of women over there against those who (falsely) think that it's scriptural for women to be subservient to men, and at MOST I've gotten a couple of warnings here and there for "goading" over the course of the few years I've been over there, and then to be banned by a "tolerant" liberal reddit group for not even posting ONCE.

[–]Amareldys 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Thanks for doing this!

There's also this forum: https://gendercriticalresources.com/Support/

and Spinster of course

[–]TheFemMyst 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Hello! I did not post much, but what happened is nothing short of being charged with thought crimes. I guessed that "r/ this doesnt happen" was going to topple shortly. I had no idea how to archive that entire sub. I know voices are important too, but that sub had a massive stockpile of actual police records of wrongdoing. I was able to go in physically to each post and email to myself near 300 cases of arrests, and I cherry picked the most heinous. With all the links to every news story or court document.

That sub is gone now too, right when I was in the middle of my click happy 3 hour harvest work to save--something.

Thanks for making this!

[–]AngryRadish 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I never posted on reddit, always just lurked. GenderCritical was where I felt like there was some sanity left. Frankly I always wanted to interact but was kind of afraid. But with what's happened now, fuck it. I'm mad. How can they be so blatantly biased? Is absolutely terrifying how much weight they have to swing behind the scenes.

[–]Shitbag 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Was not an active Redditor but strongly GC on many other platforms. Glad I spotted this link!

They think they can shut us down? Fools.

I don't do social media but I just made an account and subbed to express my thanks and respect for you all. (I've been visiting you on reddit since 2017 or so.) I've watched you grow and struggle with each other and maintain love and respect for one another as women and it's been heartening beyond words. Don't give up!

Bless you my daughters ;)

I wish my fandoms would emigrate from Reddit as well, that way I could leave that horrible site behind

I think they inevitably will. They will overstep their censorship one day and a lot of users will jump ship. Less users === less money. Advertisers tend to remove their dollars when their bottom line is affected!

[–]MarkJefferson 5 insightful - 3 fun5 insightful - 2 fun6 insightful - 3 fun -  (3 children)

Came from lgbdropthet to support the GC community here. Plebbit Admins are corrupted by the censorious TRAs.

[–]Winter_ 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I literally found GC and GCdebatesQT LAST NIGHT and today they're gone! I don't see how anything that I read qualified as "hate speech." I didn't agree with everything I read there, but it was such a relief to find a place where people were saying some of the things that I've been thinking but NOT in a hateful way.

[–]tomboyeurope 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Hi everyone,

I was shocked when I saw that r/GenderCritical was banned. WTF? But those porn subs are still allowed???

[–]BlueHetty 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Hi there. I was a long-time lurker over on Reddit. That sub really was somewhere I could be and think "I am not crazy". I peaked before JKR but was over the moon when she came out with her statement. Never quite got round to posting my story or participating in the sub in any meaningful way, but hopefully I will now. Just wanted to raise my hand and say hello. I am still in shock.
