Yeah a number of users were openly communist. I lurked there for the pro-women content, not the politics. I'm okay with uniting behind that while ignoring a political agenda.

Problem with the left in getting things done is that they demand increasingly stringent levels of purity. The right seems better at uniting over common interests, and GC should learn from that.

Better for GC to unite in resistance to the anti-woman agenda, than to get bogged down in political in-fighting.

I wasn't a mod at GC on Reddit, I'm helping in the interim as I made this account a while ago and so am able to make subs and be a mod here

I have put some basic rules of conduct in the sidebar now related to slurs and to avoid them.

I'm closely monitoring submissions and if I see slurs being thrown around I will remove them, but if it's for discussion I will leave them up.

We're just getting set up now and it's all a bit crazy at the moment!

I'm openly communist. The reddit GC sub was the only place where I could talk about feminism with people who shared my politics.

The reason the right seems less concerned with 'purity' is that their views are the views of the majority. So it seems to them and to others that they have no politics or are less concerned with politics. In fact, it's just a matter of shared, unspoken, and usually unconscious assumptions.

Anyway, it seems this is not going to be a good place for people with my politics. I know there are others. Should we find another space? We can still participate here but can by 'openly communist' there. Send me a message and let's see what we can do.

Oh don't act like you're being chased out of here. Are you upset about 6 upvotes? On a comment from an admitted lurker? There's over 1100 subscribers here. I know the basic history of gender critical thought, obviously you'll find many people who share your politics.

Goddess you have no idea how nice it is to hear from another woman somewhat like myself.

And that's a good message, unity around important common goals. In-fighting only serves people who want to hurt you. Clearly something's going on, we need to stay focused on effective action.

I don't know where I lie on the political spectrum anymore. I despise any ideology that espouses wrong-think, especially communism.

In-fighting is what always bogs down the left. They start out with a clear goal, but they have to let every other group right their coattails and then they have a mile-long list of ridiculous demands and no one takes them seriously. For a recent example, see the list of demands from the CHAZ.

We absolutely need to unite around one goal, and stick to it. r/GC, whether or not they liked it, became a rallying point for the "defend women's rights" group. Hopefully they recognize and act on that.
