The thing is violent games are pretty much all there is. Look at the list of the 90s. There were a lot more companies that no longer exists. Humongous Entertainment had 'Spy Fox' 'Freddie The Fish' 'Putt Putt' 'Pajama Sam' There was Broderbund. Maxis, Edmark that all made interesting titles without being weird or naughty. Now a days every company is either making some kind of farm game or a shooting game.
Indie games are that way too just with shitter graphics and EA (Early Access) being the norm 'We promise if you fund us to fix it' half the time they don't at least from reviews I've seen.
