Everything Else, 14/08/2021

How are you all doing? What was the high point of your week?

I've been terribly busy with work and getting ready to move to a big city, so that's exciting (and a little nerve-wracking). My high point: there's an art installation I'm making for an exhibition next year and I'm basing the entire thing on my experiences in these sex and gender 'wars' throughout the year, and I'm really really excited about this! The vision for it is finally starting to come together a bit, so that's a huge step. If anyone is curious to learn more or even participate, please feel free to message me!

My highlights are pretty boring lately lol

We got everything ready for the baby. The nursery is all set up and all the stuff we had to move around to empty the room for the nursery has found a space or been sold/donated. And we premade a deep freezer full of meals for after the baby comes

Now, we just wait

Ahh the anticipation!! Hopefully 'boring' is a bit nice after so much prepping lol I am so excited for you, though!!

Im just sewing and little else haha. Skirts, dolls, making some leather and fabric bugs for a nephews third birthday which has been fun.

Heya, just wanted to say hi and introduce myself. This seemed like a good place.

Isabelle, gcdebates discord user, old timer from the reddit sub. Been in these debates for too long. Here to try and deconstruct all of people's precious ideas.

Qt but not actually qt(the classic), centrist, a little pomo, dont like classisme and 'sides', dutch, study sociology and psychology , supermarket manager(since this year), volunteer at a trans support group org. Trans, mtf.

My purpose in the gcdebatesqt spaces is mostly to put everything in perspective and keep the bridge alive between 'sides' within a debate setting. Debate for debate sake maybe ? Idk and idc tbh, i am having fun. Debate isnt personal for me and i value decency in spirit of facilitating debate.

Thats it, ask any questions you want. Will try to regularly check in ;)

The vibe on this particular sub might be a little more mature or serious than in the Discord server, but I feel like it doesn't usually get too heavy and we're all pretty cordial with each other (even if we argue lol).

You seem like a really fun, interesting person to debate/discuss with! I'm really excited to hear your thoughts on the topics we discuss.

Since you opened up questions, how have your views changed over time from spending time in these debate spaces? Did you always believe what you believe now, or feel how you do now?

Happy to be here ;) helping young trans people have a place to come together and talk is important imo. Thanks! Have been working at the same company since i was 14, so its the cherry on the cake i guess.

Since you opened up questions, how have your views changed over time from spending time in these debate spaces? Did you always believe what you believe now, or feel how you do now?

I have become a sort of radical centrist that despises the idea of sides in general haha.The idea of actively subscribing to any idiological side has become weird to me and seems simply a political move. Instead of actually doing good contextual analyses per case when encountering problems and questions in the world, people in groups to many times let themselves be guided by a sort of mental collective efferfesance. While people in general will ofcourse be guided by ideas around them, the concious act of chaining yourself to a group or movement and its idea for me is quite strange. I have become very individualistic.

Hey! I know ;) i did recognize you. Was always fighting with missy and thought you were always based af at the time haha. I used to be called socialscientist but also had this name. My handle used to be faustist(anna-fausto sterling reference), now its just my discord debate username.

Hey, I'm good. Just going along like normal. I may be heading to my family's vacation cabin again over Labor Day weekend, so that promises to be fun.

Thanks! Yes, it will be like a sort of an interactive, 3D Venn diagram, I'm thinking--we'll see if it materializes that way! But I want all the input I can get
