yes, I agree it was the point.

I disagree that "by definition" the phrase "identify as" means anything at all, let alone "is", your link not withstanding. "Identify as" is not a word but a phrase, and words in the phrase speak for themselves. They do not mean "is".

You can not possible say "Identify as" does not reduce something real down to something meaningless and then also say "I would be bisexual even if I don't identify as such". If anything you are agreeing with me, after pointing out that I'm agreeing with the above comment, while trying to say you disagree with me. Identify as is meaningless. The fact that you'd BE bi regardless of how you identify is the point. You just want to pretend "identify as" is not a cheap imitation of "is". Using it when you admit it is used by people who pretend to "be" (as in "is" or "are"), does cheapen what it means to be something. Thank you for agreeing with me so fully while claiming otherwise. You may identify as thinking I'm wrong about "identifying as", but you agree and that's more important.
