They’re both rooted in female oppression historically. The reason most sports and most high status jobs are ‘masculine’ and home, beauty and lower status jobs are feminine is rooted in women not being allowed to do sport and being home makers (because we weren’t allowed an education or could be fired for being pregnant so no good jobs either).

They are stereotypes no matter who does it. The only way to break those stereotypes is to be comfortable doing what you like, regardless of whether it’s ‘womanly’.

Absolutely. There’d be hyperfeminine women and hypermasculine women and all inbetween. The same for guys.

But isn't femininity rooted in female oppression?

Surely people can't be naturally be for that?

It’s origins are. I don’t think nowadays many (if any) actually perpetuate oppression. I don’t actually think women are oppressed in the U.K. I think we are not seen as equal socially, but we are legally. Oppression is too strong a word imo.

So they aren't ID'ing out of oppression. Which seemed to be an earlier claim.
